Connolly too. Stafford's contract is up, a free 2 mill. Get rid of Connolly for draft picks, free up 4 mill. Get rid of Lalime free up money.

Pick up Biron, a big guy who has some talent, and get a PP d-man.

Lalime had nothing to do with their performance in this series.

I think the general idea was that we need a better back up goalie in general

Get another winger or a guy who is a go to guy to score that timely goal.

We need a first line player to go with Vanek and Roy for reals.

I also say resign Torres and drop Stafford.

Pick up another backup goalie of course. And make Ennis full time. Drop Rivet and get another guy who you can trust. Sign Tallinder to stay with Myers, and Bring up Weber.

Buy out/trade/let walk: Stafford, Gerbe, Rivet, Ellis, Lalime
Resign: Grier, Kaleta, McCormick (I don't care, one game told me all I need to know about him.
Bring in: A first-line center/winger, a veteran winger, and a competent backup goalie (Enroth can't be ready yet).

For all this to happen, we need to fire Darcy.. just sayin'.

Don't change much. Bring up guys from Portland. Make a couple of signings to help fill holes on D, and bring in another scoring veteran if available.

We're not that far off.

I would trade Stafford and Connolly only problem is who is going to want them and if you get get a team that wants them I don't think your going to get much for either. The other issue is two of your top 6 are unrestricted and can go to any team. Do most of you feel Weber and Butler will be better than having Lydman or Tallinder in the lineup. Because that is the route which I think Buffalo will take and it's really hard to tell if that's a downgrade. This team is in dire need of a couple of scorers with size. And they could use a Powerplay specialist because their powerplay has been brutal for years. I can see this team rebuilding for a few more seasons before they are much better since this team won't trade for a scorer or get a player in free agency.

Not close either. You're letting the reg season record cloud your judgement. Look back at how the Pres Trophy team (with better talent than this team) did in the playoffs that year. They barely made it past round 2 and didn't even show up for round 3.

As I've said before, the core of this team is not the core of a cup contender. It just isn't. And until that changes, it's gonna be a loooong wait.

I was surprised at how well they managed to do record-wise this year with the group they have. I am not terribly surprised with what has transpired in the post season. There were signs all along that the core was weak. Had it not been for the spread-out scoring, they would have been fighting for a playoff position. Problem is, that spread out scoring was covering a big hole that cup contenders don't suffer from: no go-to guys. None. Nada. THAT is/was the problem.
