In the postgame press confernnce, Lindy said it. In the locker room interview, Connolly himself said it.

He had no injury and was playing pain-free.

So, it's OFFICIAL:

He just plain sucked.

mmm, a lot of peoplle want him gone and I don't know why. He played shitty in the playoffs, but c'mon, he was our most consistent player in the regular season. And BTW, I didn't watch the post-games because I didn't want to see their faces talking. Yeah that's right...faces talking lol. I seen Pominville's stupid ass face on the homepage and I was like.... No.

I don't know why exactly, but Pominville's manner in those interviews bothers the shit outa me.

Maybe it's all his "uhhhh's". Plus he always says the same stuff. Granted, there's only so much you can say postgame, but Pominville really goes down the list of cliche's.

Here's the problem people

Connolly sucked really bad and for a guy making 4.5 million was a total non-factor. Alot of people want him gone and last season Regier should have traded Connolly when his value was at an all time high. But who is really going to want a soft injury prone player making that kind of money. Teams won't be willing to give up alot for a player like that because it's too risky. So we are stuck with him.

He may have had a garbage 6 games, but the fact of the matter is that he has 112 points in his last 121 regular season games. You can find a taker for him this year. I would honestly like to keep him to the trade deadline. A rental player like him with an expiring contract could get us alot in return.

I'm sure there are teams that are looking for a centerman who is creative. Columbus. Phoenix, and he will be a UFA at the end of next season so if he is dealt near the deadline they won't have to cover as much of the salary. Trade now probably not near the deadline link him and stafford, maybe someone bites.

Return as far as what? Draft picks or some young players. Most teams that are selling at the deadline are looking for young players or picks. I don't really see us getting alot for him. If he wasn't injury prone I could see us getting a first rounder. But I don't see nothing more than a second rounder because of the money he is making and because of his injury history.

Isn't a "rental" usually acquired for the purpose of, among other things, giving a team some extra juice in the playoffs?

Connoly = Playoff FAIL.

Good regular seasons do not win you championships. Connolly disappears in the playoffs.

Im still gonna be a Timmy C homer... just because he was pain free, doesn't mean he was 100%... after being off for that long and depending on how immobilized the foot was, could easily mean he simply didn't have the strength in the foot/leg upon his return... He looked better in game five... But him and Roy were no where to be found in Game 6....

I was thinking last night that maybe we simply need a bit more size with the first or second line centers... But that means you have to get rid of Roy or Timmy.... And I don't wanna make that call...

He can 'look' better all he wants. It doesn't change his lack of production.

In his last 22 playoff games (06/07 and 09/10), Tim has 0 goals and 10 assists. This is not good enough to get it done.

You could see a center needy team like Calgary rolling the dice on him. With Connolly a year away from UFA again, he will likely be trade-able.

I don't expect the Sabres to get a monster return for Connolly. But, the Sabres might be able to swing a deal that nets them a nice prospect (I'd take Greg Nemisz http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/greg_nemisz for TC right now) or a 2nd round pick that can be a nice trade piece.

The question then becomes what can Regier pull off to improve the center position in 2010-11........

Well fuck that. I gave him the benefit of the doubt the first few games, but then I started thinking. Vanek didn't miss a beat after he came back from an injury a few games before the regular season ended. And then he comes back last night with a sprained ankle and he still managed to score a goal. Bottom line is that Connolly let his team down. We all knew this was going to be a tight series, and we needed our goal scorers to break through and score the important goals for us. Tuukka Rask was good, but I feel like we frustrated ourselves more then he frustrated us...if that makes any sense.

It does make sense.

I'd still keep Connolly. He was good in the regular season.

He really disappointed me this year.

That said, I think there's a good chance that, if he's still a Sabre this fall, that he'll come to camp in the best shape of his career and tear it up next season.
