I know we can see with our own two eyes that Torres, Connolly, Pominville, Roy, and Stafford were all shit. I decided to rate which players I thought had good, which had ok, and which had a bad series and see how the numbers stacked up to my impressions.

For this I devised my own +/- rating. It is fairly simple.

For every game in which you get a goal, assist or are a positive player (actual +/-), you get a +1.
Ex. 1g, 1a, +2 rating = 1+1+1=+3

For every game in which you are a negative player, you get a -1
Ex. 1g, 1a, -1 = 1+1-1 = +1

For every game in which you are a top 6 forward and don't have any points or a positive rating you get a -1 for each category you don't show in.
Connolly - 0g, 0a, even = -1-1-1 = -3

For every game you are a healthy scratch you get a -1.

Some notes:
I counted Torres as a top 6 forward because I feel that's what he was brought in here to be. He was leading the team in goals when he joined.

I thought Gaustad wasn't as much of a presence as he could have been in this series, hence my impression that he wasn't a great asset for us.

I did not penalize any of the rookie forwards for no-show performances on a top line.

Based on Performances, our best lineup for the series was roughly

Kaleta - Ennis - Vanek
Gerbe - Mair - Kennedy
McCormick - Gaustad - Grier
Ellis - Roy (only because we needed a center) - Pominville

D1 - Montador - Rivet
D2 - Tallinder - Lydman
D3 - Sekera - Myers

Scratch:
Stafford
Torres
Connolly
Butler

Just my impressions from watching the games.

Green - I thought they were good
Yellow - I thought they were pedestrian
Red - I thought they sucked

After trying to find a definite pattern, thats what I eventually figured, but thought I might be missing something.

Interesting chart here, and...disgustingly disappointing looking at that list of red at the bottom. Just HOW MUCH money is tied up in that group?

These numbers I believe are for the past year

Connolly - 4.5M
Roy - 3.5M
Pominville - 4.5M
Stafford - 1M
Torres - I don't honestly remember, 2.9M? I doubt he'll be back anyways.

13.5M in those four alone though.

How did Pominville do bad? Other than the missed net? And wtf Sekera was horrible.
