Not liking the whole 7th defenseman role, Corey Fienhage (3rd round, 2008) has jumped ship to the Kamloops Blazers with a regular role in mind.

If it furthers his playing career and makes him even better, this will be a great move then.

It will. By switching to major junior, he gets an additional playing year and will be a starter instead of a reserve.

Good, that means he'll be more developed when he hits the AHL.

I really like that he switched to major junior. Even better he's going to Kamloops so I'll be able to see quite a bit of him next year.

This is the second time today my post on this has been moved - first at HF Boards, and now here (although I posted them in reverse order).

Im not sure how much of a prospect this kid is at this point. Granted ND is a great program, but if you can't even get on the ice in college, it doesn't say much for your potential as an NHL'er or even an AHL'er for that matter

Most kids who go to college don't get a lot of playing time until their junior and senior years. Especially if you play for a program like UND and you aren't a top tier prospect.

good prospects rarely aren't able to make the AHL after their 2nd year of junior. If he can't make a college team that doesn't say much. Being a 'top teir' college prospect isn't such an amazing accolade.

Yeah actually if they could there would be a lot more junior aged players in the AHL. The only reason they aren't is because they aren't old enough. Fienhage is what 19 this upcoming season. After two seasons of playing big minutes in the dub for 70 games he'll be more than ready for the AHL. More so than if he stayed at UND and played big minutes for 2 years only playing 40 games or so.

I'm not saying its the wrong move, I'm saying if he truly was a blue chip it wouldn't matter if he was on UND or Jr A -- He'd get the minutes

It's not really that hard to understand. He's not a good prospect, therefore who gives a shit what he does.

If u dont give a shit than don't post anything and let us who give a shit about our prospects talk about them.

It's prospect talk. There really isn't very much to this other than a Sabres prospect ditched UND for a junior league. Big deal. He'll get more minutes there because he doesn't feel he has time to wait to get the minutes in college, a.k.a. he's not gonna wait for the juniors and seniors to graduate before he gets to play. He's a third round pick and he wants to try to make it sooner rather than later.

trying to maintain civility, but fuck off

Everyones chest thumping that this is such a great move, when reality he's not a big deal. I pay just as much attention as you do to prospects -- yes it is possible, but saying its common place for a good prospect not to get playing time in college isn't saying hes a good prospect. I'm not neglecting the news, thanks for it phil, I was trying to explain to some why this is no blockbuster move.

No prospect is a bad prospect. Zetteburg was a 5th round draft pick...

Datsyuk was a 6th round pick and went undrafted in 96 and 97.

Both those guys were once in a blue moon type players though
