How many of you think that Darcy will make any moves during this draft or do you think he will just stand pat? I would like to hear what people think. I'm hoping Connolly and Stafford are gone by the end of the weekend but we will see.

The draft is the perfect place to make trades. There's certain opportunities that meeting face to face with other GMs present that phone conversations just don't have. Such as the ability to slip something into their drinks.

Supposedly Boston is shopping around Thomas and it looks like Kaberle offers are heating up. I hope no-one offers Burke more than a second rounder and a prospect for Kaberle. I just have a feeling if Anaheim doesn't sign Bobby Ryan I know it might be a far reach that an offer sheet is put on Bobby Ryan a possibility for Toronto? Just saying since Burke drafted the kid. And Toronto has money to spend.

you need to have balls, to make a trade and not be in love with your players. You all are going to get Jay Mckee, and people will think it a good move. I highly doubt Darcy goes after a marquee player like kaberle, no balls, won't "overpay." Regier will probably give stafford another year, god only knows why. Connolly, well if wideman was moveable connolly should be moveable. will it happen probably not and regier will get fucked over in a trade when he tries to trade connolly at the trade deadline. It's nice to have faith, but I'm sorry i do not. As long as Quinn is in charge and Regier is GM, mediocrity ensues.

I hope he'll trade SabresBillsFan, Ferret, and ETC to Washington for a pick and a fan to be named later.

I'm going to refrain from being optimistic this year. That old "fool me once, fool me twice" idea and all.

It depends. The team really doesn't need a full makeover, and if Darcy is content with the roster and the promise of the young guys getting better he won't make any trades he thinks are stupid.

Wow what did I say to piss you off buddy???? I'm a huge Sabres fan but I'm sorry I just don't have much faith in Darcy or the current management. All the teams in the division are making moves except Toronto right now but I can almost asure you that Burke will be wheeling and dealing this weekend. This is a great time for Darcy to make some moves to help this squad. I think he's just too in love with his current core and not wanting to take any risks. I'm a big fan of trading players for players that are still young and have some upside not trading picks for a rental that only stays in Buffalo a month or two. Buffalo can't afford to throw away high picks on garbage but that's just my opinion.

How many moves did they all make last year? and who won the division? Darcy the Turtle.

It's not about winning the division and it's easy to point out that Myers and Miller were the real reason for them winning the division. Come on Miller wanted to be the USA #1 goalie and worked out hard in the offseason to improve his game and it showed. He carried the team alot. Now on to Myers the guy was absolutely the best defenseman on the team and he's a rookie. Fine we won the division but the ultimate goal is the Stanley cup and this current squad needs changes to it in order to advance that far and everyone knows it. Yes Division Title and Vezina and Calder Trophy is great but the real objective is the Stanley Cup isn't it?

I'm with ya, we won the division! Chips and salsa for everyone! That being said though, we are lacking pieces needed for the post season.

Lol was just about to say that.

Here's my take; with most of the teams that needed to shed salary, shedding it already; there's not much true "value" outside of free agency.

Sure we'd all love to see Connolly and Stafford gone, but they are players we really cant afford to sell on a song. What good does it do to sell both of those players for draft picks? Especially with several teams having cap space this year, in much more attractive markets. LA, EDM, CGY, etc all have decent amounts of cap space, and are much more exciting markets than Buffalo.

So do i think that we'll be active, yes, but I dont think we'll get any trades done.

thats optimistic. when was the last time Darcy traded more than one person. in one deal. more like one each to a different team.

i liked what bulldog said. sign Burke for a day so he can make a trade with himself. not exactly a good move though because then he'll do something entirely in toronto's favour. wait it's going to happen any way.

If by "active" you mean that he will be actively ignoring trades... boy do I have good news for you!

if darcy doesn't make any moves by the end of the draft, he needs to be canned

Nothing big, but I know he definately will. He knows he needs to do something or it's his head. lol. He'll probally swap some picks and maybe nab a 3rd liner. Nothing big. I really do believe he is going to sign a decent free agent July 1st (holy crap that's close!!). Just be things he's been saying throughout the year about a powerplay QB at free agency, when usually he's to scared to comment on free agency. I think we'll improve.

Who's so great out there right now that everybody wants Darcy to acquire so badly?!? Sharp is OFF the market, Horton didn't happen...so who? Kaberle and Souray are both crap defensively and way farking overpaid, besides being semi-old. I like their offense at the blueline, but not enough to ignore what they lack and their big fat contracts.

Maybe Connolly or Stafford can be sent to Florida for a draft pick and/or Keith Ballard. Maybe a few picks can be sent to Philly for Jeff Carter (he's on the trading block). Otherwise I don't see a whole lot of players that are available and will be just what we need. Brad Richards would be nice but he's on his last contract year at 7.8 mil. That's a pretty hefty price tag and he'd need to be signed long-term for about the same money if he'll stay in Buffalo and be worth the trade.

Otherwise I'd look hard at signing a few UFAs like Paul Martin or Kurt Foster, or Whitney or Stempniak.
