Wanted to start this thread as a response to Weber being inked. Do you think we'll stand pat with what we have or make another move to get a 3rd or 4th blueliner? I for one hope not to see Butler unless someone gets hurt and would love to see Darcy get one more guy in here to work with Rivet and buffer our D. Thoughts?

I'd like to see another signing, especially since Rivet is not exactly healthy right now.

I'm certainly not sold on it.
I really wanted to keep Loods around.

I guess we can just up Big Easy's TOI to around 45 minutes to fill in any gaps ;)

Regier sounded like he was done on D when he talked about the Leopold signing.

The defense will be good enough IF the kids (Myers, Weber, Sekera, and Butler) are good and the vets stay healthy.

But like in life, there are no guarantees.

Personally, I'm less than thrilled with the Leopold deal. But, it is what it is at this point.

My biggest worry is that Darcy (and everyone else) gets Myers Syndrome and thinks that our young guys are much better then they are, thus making him incapeable of putting together a signing/trade to improve it.

I think that Rivet will bounce back after his injury, and because of it, Butler's game will improve as well.

I'm with you but I'm hoping that Weber makes it and plays well. I'm also hoping Butler and Sekera really step up now that Tallinder and Lydman are gone.

I agree, but its almost a given, and Rivet has even said it on WGR, that hes not gonna start the season. I think what you'll see is us wait until camp or just after it to see who teams let go and us bring in a Nolan Pratt-type who can fill in for a month or two, be a healthy scratch and be all in all an invisible, non-liability on the ice as a plug in.

I hope not. Just give it to the newest old fart.

Niedermayer for C!

I would bet if Rivet doesn't start the season, by deafult and by how much everyone seems to respect and look up to him....the G Unit would wear the C

I'm ok with the defence as it is. Darcy's just gonna roll the dice on the kids and if it backfires well that's why we have a vezina goalie in the net making 6.25. It's cheap and if they play well in a top 4 roll their value on the market is high.

Darcy has already made it clear he's giving Weber and Gragnani their chances. I'm gonna say Gragnani is the 7th defenseman, but I wouldn't dislike McKee coming back ONLY as the 7th defenseman.

Gragnani has to play good in training camp this coming year because this is make or break for him.

I'd much rather see a guy who's been in the NHL be a 7th d man than say Gragani. Also wasn't Gragani a forward when he was first up and now he's back on d, I am all confused???

He was a defenseman in junior and when he was called up to sBuffalo a couple of season's ago he was used as a forward but since then he was placed back on Defense.
