Quote:
Larry Kelly, the agent for Lydman, said in an e-mail to Eyewitness Sports on Tuesday that he's been talking with Sabres general manager Darcy Regier since the NHL Draft. Kelly would not speculate on if at this point Lydman would test the open market but did add, "Toni really likes Buffalo".

Don Meehan, the agent for Tallinder, said in an e-mail to Eyewitness Sports on Tuesday "We may very well have further discussions before July 1 and even after. With the (salary) cap being set at 59.4 (million dollars) we believe it will only be favorable to Henrik".

Sounds to me like Lydman really wants to stay while Tallinder sees a big pay-day on the horizon. Of course, we've been burned by players saying they like Buffalo before (DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT MENTIONING THEIR NAMES - WE KNOW WHO THEY ARE). If that e-mail truly is an indication of things to come, I'll be glad to welcome Lydman back.

I'd love Lydman back, it seems like tallinder is looking for 3mil or more in money.

No sir, I think we all treat 6/30 and 7/1 like holidays. Free Agency Eve and Free Agency Day, if you will :D

I don't blame a player for wanting to leave in order to seek a bigger contract. Business is business. If both leave I just hope our defense core doesn't get worse. I'm not really to sold on Weber, Butler, Sekera or Grag's being fulltime defenseman by default of them leaving.

I like others wouldn't mind Martin, Foster or Michalek as their replacements.

It is more and more like Christmas than I thought. I'm sitting here hoping that I was good enough to get presents but deep down I know Santa hates me and I'll wake up to find a stocking full of mediocre crap in the corner.

Now that's funny! I'm hoping and believe me I'm hoping that Darcy is actually active tomorrow.

I'm with you but would it be nice if he really did make a move for a high end free agent. This team is close to being pretty good with a couple of moves.

Ehh...sounds like PR bullshit to me. I guess I'm always skeptic about a player re-signing until they actually do. We'll see.

Yeah, and then UFA day happens and it's like report card day.

Seeing both Tallinder and Lydman go does not upset me at all. Both guys thought they were worth more money then they really are.

I really liked Toni and am sad to see him go. It looks like he was looking for a longer commitment than the Sabres were willing to offer. Best of luck in Anaheim.

I'm irritated that they both left, personally. I thought we'd get at least one

One or the other would have been far more sufficient than Leopold. I know I'm making premature judgments, but it just seems bizarre that you would throw away 2 strong defensmen that your Vezina winning goaltender is comfortable with, for a lackluster D-man with concussion problems.

I never really get pissed at Darcy, but come on! This was a horrible move imo.

Tallinder is making $3.375 per for four years. He left for a pay day. If Darcy matched that, would you be happy with Tallinder getting a raise and playing here until he's 36? Fuck no.

Lydman left because Darcy wanted to give him two years and the Ducks gave him three, so he chose the Ducks. Plus he gets to play with his fellow Finnish Olympian S. Koivu and maybe T. Selanne for one more year. Oh yea, and he's moving to Cali. In this case, I agree with Darcy, but I still would've bitten the bullet for a third and final year of Lydman.

I'm mildly upset about Lydman leaving but good riddance to Tallinder.
