I went over his stats from Portland/Rochester and he tore it up down there, but up with the big club he gets 6 and 7 games and net a goal and an assist.

He's 6'3" and 225lbs...and I'm looking at our right side this year thinking that some size over there could help balance out the lack of size on the left with Ennis and Kennedy over there.

Is he a guy that can score on a line with a decent center distributing the puck...or his we just a 3rd liner?

It's hard to get a read on him being that I don't live in the area.

Mancari is so tough to judge. He had like two or three of those games where it was like "Holy shit, this guy is great," and then he vanished.

What Mike said. Mancari is naturally gifted with a hard shot (he owns the all-time AHL record for hardest shot and is second only to Zdeno Chara for hardest shot in North America), speed, and a new-found affinity for fighting, but he just doesn't seem to care to put forward the effort to complete the package.

If he can put it together, what line do you put him on? It's just frustrating that he have too many guys that we can't get a read on and even if we could it's like we have two 2nd line guys and one gets wasted on a third line, but at the same time we really don't have a 1st line guy, or we have a guy who's really a 3rd liner who's playing on the 2nd line...etc, etc, etc...

I look at Pominville, Mancari, Kaleta, Stafford and think what the heck do we have at RW on the roster?

If Pominville and Stafford and inked to the top 2 lines this season, how can I expect a guy like Mancari to net some goals when he's centered by Gaustad (whom I like) and has Kennedy as his LW? I mean I like Kennedy, but is he good enough to force teams not cover him all the time? Maybe, probably?

I look down the rosters of other teams and many of them don't seem to have these problems.

Playing with Vanek and Roy, Mancari conceivably could be a first liner. But we'll never know.

I think Mancari will come into camp with a better outlook and attitude this season after his hold-out last season. He apparently didn't feel too grumpy over the issue considering his production in Portland, and he made comments basically saying the hold-out was a mistake. With a need for a big scoring RW, I'd be willing to see what Mancari can do. If things were different and we needed a LW, I'd package him in a trade.

I think it's worth giving him a fair shot at the roster this year. At the very least he may be needed as the 13th or 14th forward. If he performed to his potential, he would be a top six power forward scoring about 20-25 goals. Buffalo could really use that.

100% he could be that power forward, but we just haven't seen him WANT to be that guy yet. Here's hoping he finally fucking figured it out and my fandom of Mancari hasn't been a waste.

I don't feel like he was given an honest chance this year. He played pretty well in the short stint he was here, and then got sent back down and never saw the light of day again.

Idk...

I honestly could see him being part of a package deal to a "weaker" team in the league. A team that is looking to add some depth on the 3rd or 2nd line.

Possibly part of a Mancari, Gerbe, Roy/Connolly deal that brings in a #1 RW

I mean it may be wishful thinking, but given our current roster make up, he's on the outside looking in...again

What kind of #1 right wing are you talking about? Because for that package, I'd take no less than someone of the caliber of a Parise, and it'd have to come with some picks.

ANy of the following if Roy is involved (great contract, consistent 65-75 point player)

Chris Stewart, Bobby Ryan, Jamie Langenbrunner

If it's Connolly (last year of his deal, big contact)

Erat, Samuelsson, Hornqvist

Any of the above players is a huge upgrade over what we have as a first line RW...Stafford; perfect fits I think are actually Stewart, and Samuelsson; but all of those guys with maybe the exception of Langenbrunner are not considered "untouchable" to their clubs.

I'm not ready to give away Gerbe. Swap Gerbe for a draft pick and those two players for any of the guys you mentioned and I'd be alright... assuming Darcy had a way of bringing in another center.

Trading for Hornqvist is a SERIOUS gamble but it could pay off like nobody saw coming - Patric was the very last player taken in his draft year, but had a 30g season in his first full season.

I don't think the guy will be a gamble at all. He's already made the NHL as the very last pick overall. He will be something special even if he never is a superstar.

He had 35 points in 49 games in his first AHL season, which isn't that bad for a guy like him, then 51 points last year in 80 games.

I think this guy has the motivation to be very special and if we could land him, maybe he will be.

But you'd trade Mancari, Gerbe, AND Roy/Connolly for a guy that COULD be special? Too much of a risk for me.

Actually, that was Jay's idea - not Sky's.
