This thread will be devoted to the things the Sabres do 7/1 from 12:00PM and on.

Rely on Phil to give us the scoop all day long! Please give us some links there Phil!

There will be a SEPARATE THREAD in NHL TALK for non-Sabres 7/1 Trades and Signings

Discuss!

Well I guess the big question to start is the D.... does Darcy work out a deal with Toni or Hank... does he stand pat and promote Weber and Grags .... does he bring in a new D-man or two... it's going to be interesting... Personally, based on some of Phil's reports, I guess I'd be happiest with Toni signed, Weber promoted, add a PP QB (not sure who) and maybe move out Butler or Sekera? ... unless you guys think Webber isn't greater than Sekera/Butler....

So will this have to be threadjacked since Darcy won't bring anyone in?

haha...give it time. I won't be surprised if Darcy waits out to see who is left. I want the Sabres to get Martin, but that won't happen as I'm sure other teams will overpay to get him

well... he could promote Weber and Grags... but won't that leave Portland weak on the Blue line? do NHL GMs worry about building the farm team as well? Granted we drafted a few D-men this year, but would any of them be ready for the AHL so soon... My guess would be Toni resigned and maybe another FA d-man signed... puck moving... but no idea who fits...

I won't be on all day tomorrow because I'll be out and about with Joshua. I'll only be tweeting until about 10.

Madden and Biron would make me happy.

If Darcy signs someone even remotely note-worthy tomorrow, I will be happy.

Zbynek Michalek and Moose Hedberg are on my free agency wish-list.

If we go into the 4th day of free-agency with no one, can we allow SBF to at least talk??

All I'd like to see is a good Backup goalie, yes Biron would fit great, Hedberg, or even Turco.

I'd love to see Lydman kept and bringing up Weber would be nice, or use the space from Hank and Lydman and sign Martin and bring up Weber.

And sign a RWer of note. Or yes, Jokinen, I'd take the gamble on him even if he is a supposedly locker room Cancer.

Since everyone thinks I will hijack this thread I will add this.

I wouldn't mind seeing Biron back and a quality defenseman brought in.

My expectations are so low at this point that if we make a move for anyone who's name is slightly more well known than the center for my local kids league, I'd be happy.

Believe me I'm with you buddy but maybe just maybe this will be the year they make a move. I'll keep my fingers crossed. You would think Darcy and company seeing all the moves montreal, toronto and boston have made you would think they would make a move especially if they lose Hank and Tony.

If Tallinder and Lydman walk, Regier has no other choice but to sign somebody decent. Without knowing if both will return, it would be better to go ahead and sign somebody right away, even if it means over paying. The worst case scenario is having to bring up Weber and Gragnani and have a d-corps like...

Weber - Myers
Sekera - Montador
Butler - Gragnani/Rivet when he's healthy
Rivet/Gragnani

With that d-corps Buffalo may as well not bother with next season. This is why I think Regier will make a big, bold move for a top d-man. There isn't any other option if both Tallinder and Lydman don't re-sign.

That's what I'm thinking if Buffalo loses Tallinder and Lydman that Darcy might make a move for a quality d-man to replace them. I don't know if bringing up Weber and Grag's fulltime is the answer if he decides not to replace either of them.

My turn to get into the mix. This is what I'm predicting by July 7th.

Paul Martin signed 4 years 22M dollars
Alexi Ponikarovski signed 3 years 9.3 M dollars
Also adding Begin and a Tough guy, or resign McCormick

We shall see how right I am in a week.
