And you're a dunce. Rob Niedermayer's signing did three things:
1) gave the Sabres a legitimate shutdown line of either Kennedy/Nieds/Grier, Hecht/Nieds/Grier, Nieds/Goose/Grier, Goose/Nieds/Grier, or Hecht/Goose/Grier
2) gave the Sabres a legitimate ass-kicking line of McCormick/Goose/Kaleta
3) creates a log-jam among the top six (assuming Kennedy signs) which will increase competitiveness between Vanek, Roy, Ennis, Kennedy, Connolly, Pominville, Stafford, and Hecht.

I always thought he played good against the Sabres when he was in Toronto. Then he scored like 15 goals in 20 games as a Coyote. Surley he cant be as bad as Drew?

Darcy probably feels that he improved as much this off season as he did last season.

And last year they went from out of the playoffs to a division title!

Again, Miller brought us that far. We need to give our goalie some offensive help. We rely on him too much, we need a more complete team to even THINK of going for the cup.

Chicago had an AMAZING OFFENSE
A hot goaltender
A crushing defense.

Philly had great, hardworking offense
Goaltending not very great, but their goalie was hot.
Their D was amazing, along with Pronger controlling Byfuglien

Darcy did have some good signings, but we needed to do more!

Well, except for his rookie season and last season, he's never scored more than 14 goals in a single year. And that streak he went on with Phoenix is the only reason he's had more than one season of 14+ goals. In the playoffs, don't forget he had 2a in 7gp and was a minus player. He's also grossly overpaid.

That's pretty much what we need. Rob is like Mike Grier, he put up THE EXACT same numbers. He does similar things, but it's not enough. We can't expect to get rid of Lydman and Tallinder, Sign Leopold and Rob and expect to go far. Sure, we will make it to the playoffs. I'm expecting that. But without a team in front of Miller we will end up like we did this past year.

I like the work he's done but it would blow if he didn't bring in some more offense. Miller stone walls people but without more goals...well you know.

Rob improves our physical game and improves many other aspects of the game but he's not a goal scorer.

Neither Niemi or Leighton were hot in the finals. They both sucked.

Signing Leopold was a good signing. He brings more offense to the defense and he's pretty damn good defensively. Very underrated NHLer in my opinion.

Niedermeyer brings balls to this team, along with balls Mike Grier and Craig Rivet already brought along. The Niedermeyer signing shows me that Darcy is thinking that players will learn by Rob's example, and let the chemistry grow even more.

You can't just tear shit apart just because you think it's not working. You have to work on it until you think that there's nothing more you can do. Vanek, Roy, Connolly, Kennedy, Ennis.. they're all damn talented they just need a guy that will keep their work ethic strong. The GMs aren't playing NHL 10 where there's a trade every week. I swear to God that I really think that people think that Darcy doesn't do a thing, when we have plenty of evidence that he has.
