Well I was playing NHL 10 today and I made a Toronto Maple Leafs franchise. (don't worry I have like 10 Sabres ones, and a bunch of random teams). Whenever I make a franchise for another team, I always end up trading with the Sabres, I can't help it. And I just trade for all of my non-star favorite players. Now I go on youtube and just watch videos of these players and I just realized that Grier is probally my favorite player. My other favorite players are Tim Kennedy, and for some reason, Craig Rivet. Just watching the video of Mike Grier scoring in game 5 of the playoffs last year off the face-off, wearing the Classic Sabres logo, and jumping into the boards screaming with the biggest smile on his face just makes me love the guy. Other guys like Jochen Hecht and Craig Rivet are guys that we were dissing all last year, but they're awesome. Who are your favorite players on the Sabres, guys you just love to see succeed, besides the obvious Miller, Myers, Ennis type guys. FEAR THE GRIER! Sorry this is a random topic, but I was just really deep in thought and had to post this. |

Gaustad, Grier, Montador, Kaleta, Rivet. I play the same kind of hockey as those guys, so I've always been a big fan of the grinders/hard working guys. |

I add to my point, I hate it when our so called "top players" score and they barely even celebrate. It just seems like they don't care. I just watched Myers 2 goals game and on the second one, he had like the biggest smile on his face, and Pominville just skated up to him with a straight face and tapped his glove... |

Peters was the epitome of worthlessness. My favorite underrated player? Vaclav Varada. |

As funny and awesome a dude as Peters is (I've only ever heard awesome stories about him in public), he was kind of really fucking terrible. |

Yeah, loved the guy, wasn't sad to see him go. Ditto for Spacek. I weep every night in my Paille jersey while punching my Bertuzzi poster though... |

If only he'd have taken less money. |

I think most of us can agree that Peters wasn't worth much of anything, and Spacek isn't worth the money he got. Remember Spacek's first year over when he was completely fucking useless and I hated him? Good times. |

Also, Lalime is one of my top favorites. Again, referencing game 5 against the B's (they re-ran that game the other night on NHL network)...when Gaustad and Chara went at it at the end of the game, Lalime was on the bench and held out his hands to the crowd and made them start screaming...then when the horn signaled the end of the game, he ran out to Miller with the biggest smile on his face and gave Miller a huge bear hug. Great guy, I love him. (no homo) |
