I read in the TSN comment section that a clause in the CBA prevented Kennedy from being traded before January. I will try to look this up. If anyone else has the energy please do. Anyway, if Kennedy couldn't be traded, then the only way for him to go to another team that wanted him is through waivers. If that team was close to first in the waiver order, they could pick up Kennedy in a psuedo trade involving the other players later on.

Perhaps this is why Regier won't comment until after the waiver period, as he wants to make sure that the other team involved gets Kennedy, and the rest of the trade pans out.

I would heavily suggest that this means Edmonton is involved, seeing as the rumor first came out of there, and they are first in the waiver order (I believe). With Morrison just getting signed, I have to suspect that an Edmonton forward would be part of a deal. I further suspect, if all these other factors are accurate, that player would be Horcoff, Penner, or Hemsky.

Wow... That makes a lot of sense. I actually hope we get Hemsky.

(Big fan)

Cool!

Horcoff = indifferent

Penner = hate him, not sure why, just seems like a dick. oh and he scored that goal vs. USA. but he would be a stellar fit with Buff.

Hemsky = love him, sick hands, can really run a PP, but I dont think hes a playoff game breaker.

Hemsky; Do. Not. Want. But I think you're right, man. Could be any of those three. I'd say Horcoff, but mostly because he's been on the wish list of fans for a while to be moved out of Oil country.

Wouldn't mind Penner though. Anyone know how long he's under wraps for and for how much?

I'm siding with Irony, as well on the most recent signing. I looked up the guy's stats and he faired off pretty decent paired with Greene on the blue line. Don't think Darcy is done yet, but you wanna talk about someone playing his hand close to his chest.

What'll we see next?

So, just some logical thought here:

What happens when Edmonton grabs him off waivers and is like "LOL can we haz player?" and then doesn't offer anything back to Buffalo, seeing as that they aren't obligated at all to give Buffalo anything...

I'm not sure if language can be included that binds them to a trade in the event that they pick up Kennedy. I suppose anything is possible.

Penner is a 4.25 million dollar cap hit each of the next 2 years. He's a big body, and can put up points, but I've have it on good authority from people in the know here in MB that he's very lazy with his conditioning, and has a bit of an attitude...

I'd imagine that if we get anyone it's penner, somehow packaging Drew and another D man or so. Penner (I think) is what we all wanted drew to be, and would really help round out a Vanek-Roy-Penner line.

Isn't Penner LW, though?

It's funny, because in NHL 10, the Vanek-Roy-Penner line worked really well.

I would love it if we got either of Penner or Hemsky.

I think so. Would this be a big problem?

Let us all remember that Vanek got really hot playing some RW for us last year.

ehhh, I'm not so sure about Hemsky. He can light it up, no doubt. But the "I" word bears its ugly head. He seems incredibly injury-prone. Otherwise, I'd trade for him in a heartbeat...

He's certainly an upgrade over Stafford, and that makes the team better, and that's all we want. The forward lines could be...

Ennis-Connolly-Pominville
Vanek-Roy-Hemsky
Hecht-Niedermayer-Grier
McCormick-Gaustad-Kaleta
Gerbe-???

If Ennis proves to be for real, that's pretty damn good.
