nice signing, judging by his stats (i know, stats aren't everything, but...) he looks like a solid player, esp on the pk, with those 4 shorthanders

It doesn't mention whether or not this is a two-way contract...

It is. He fills out the Pirates roster. One more depth signing and that team is ready to play.

Mark Stuart's older brother, doh!

In all seriousness, from all i've read about him in my research last few days, he seems like a Matt Ellis type player, hard worker, high energy, good size, ect.... but obviously lacks A LOT of skill.

Portland can go sign their own damn players then, we need more money to sign more NHL players.

not how it quite works. as the parent club of the pirates, the sabres have responsibility helping them fill out the roster. why on earth would the sabres want to let the pirates fill their own roster with players not contracted by the sabres? this is win/win. they fill a roster spot in portland, and cover their own asses JUST IN CASE. every team fills out its AHL roster.

Both of my posts were all sarcasm Mike. I know how the NHL/AHL agreements work.
