What if it were the Hamilton Coyotes instead of the Phoenix Coyotes coming to town on Thursday? Can you imagine how much crazier and more fun that atmosphere would be? Just saying... |

If they are half as obnoxious in Hamilton as the Leafs and Frogs; er pea soupers fans are, no thanks..... They may be good eggs; I'd have to defer to Ice on this one..... |

You find the Phoenix Coyotes game more compelling than a Leafs or Canadiens game? I think that a rivalry game is always so much more fun. |

Agree with ETC. "Phoenix" just sucks all the ooomph out of it for me. It's a "Value" ticket. As far as the variable pricing precious metals terminology, probably equivalent to a rusty nail. |

Hey, it's Sabres hockey...regardless of the opponent. I don't even go to Leafs games anymore because their fans are so miserable and they take it out on the Buffalonians. Habs fans have started to get under my skin more and more every season, but I can still tolerate them. |

It's a testosterone thing...the more heated the game the more belligerent and drunk the atmosphere becomes. Being a big fan of drunken belligerence, I am all for the rivalry games! |

Yeah, I hate hearing "Go Leafs Go" all game, but when you get to laugh at all the Laffs fans when they lose, it makes it worth it. |

Oh believe me...I know what you guys mean. I walked out of the ACC with pride after the Sabres beat the Leafs in preseason, and it put a smile on my face every time a Leafs fan said, "Fuck you" or "Bitch" to me. But when Leafs fans invade the HSBC, their insults go beyond hockey and they start getting political. They start trashing the city and our country...and there's really no room for that in sports in my opinion. It's obnoxious and even after a Sabres victory I've had Leafs fans follow me to my car and harrass me. Sort of sucks the fun out of the win. Rivalry in sports is fun, and I can take the insults about my team just fine...even though it can piss me off, it's sort of fun in a way to defend your team when the opposing team's fans are trashing them, you know? But when the fans start getting a little too personal; trashing my country and my city...well that's when it stops being enjoyable for me. I've just chosen not to purchase any more tickets to Leafs-Sabres games anymore...plenty of other games to choose from. |

I mean, just because I say Toskala is a bum, or that tripping call was bad, doesn't mean the retort should be that I live in a shithole. Some of the more intelligent Leafs fans are nice. You can get into some good natured ribbing during the game, then shake hands and wish them well after the game. Too many of them seem the be the ignorant type though. I hate it because I LIKE Canada, and Toronto. I like that I can go there and experience such a great city within a couple hours drive. I don't want to resort to trashing it just because some dipshit thought it was cool to go there with my town. |

Yeah, yeah, I know that a few assholes make for a spoiled time, but the interest level for those games is much higher. The ratings, the buzz, the emotional investment in the game, etc. When we play Phoenix or Nashville the intensity just isn't the same. |

It just isn't as intense. However, I've been the PHX games the past couple of times they've been here. Last year was great, high intensity, high hitting, lots of after the whistle stuff, and Rivet made Doan run away. Not to mention Goose wanted to fight the entire Coyotes bench after the game. It was a fun game, but I do understand your point. I think a North Eastern Conference that had Buffalo, MTL, TOR, Hamilton, Ottawa would be awesome. No team is outside for 4 hours drive from the other, so lots of diversity in the buildings every night, and a ton of heated rivalries. I'm all for a team coming to Hamilton, I don't think it would really effect us that much. Plus I know tons of people on the wait list for season tickets. I know im about 500 down the list myself. So I guess we run the risk of losing a few fans, but perhaps we garner more ticket selling power by having increased rivalries closer by as well.\ Don't see too many away fans for Boston when they come to town 4 times a year. |

Ummm...having been raised in Hamilton, (allow me to state) there's going to be an economic "cut-off line" - The real Hamilton white-trash won't make it to HSBC, mainly because they won't be able to afford to pay for the whole enchilada... But, Sabres' fans going to Hamilton (wearing a Sabres' jersey?) to watch a game might be a very, very "Philly-like" experience - Nasty and insulting and possibly being forced to confront angry, intoxicated douchebags driven by the need to "express" themselves to the point of physical assault. Lots of nice folks in Hamilton - But, lots of crazy, inbred, white-trash motherfuckers, too... |

This is one of the reasons I don't like to attend the really high rivalry games. Like fly said, I've seen it escalate to harassment, but also violence. There's a lot of belligerence, and it's gotten to the point where I don't even like attending those kinds of games because of all the fights that break out. They're fun to watch for sure, but some people just take it too far and invade the city for all the wrong reasons, which just takes a lot of the fun away from the sports aspect of it. Or maybe my estrogen is just showing. |

I don't like going to Leafs games anymore, not since I had many beers tossed at me, and heard a bunch of Leafs fans cursing out kids in Sabres jerseys...and Leafs fans (who were kids) cursing out adults in Sabres jersey. Fuck that noise, I'll go to some low-intensity game where the Sabres are gonna get their whoop-ass on. |

I saw a Sabres fan get jumped outside of the ACC and some pathetic Leafs fan drop-kicked the guy in the face. He was all by himself too, just keeping to himself. |

I was sort of afraid to go to the Sabres game in Toronto, but I left pretty unscathed. The ones that insulted me were all men, telling me to fuck off or calling me a bitch...or telling me that Buffalo sucks (original). When I was in the women's bathroom, I got a lot of women telling me I was brave or they said, "Good for you!" for being brave enough to venture around the ACC in my Sabres jersey. |
