I'm a bit worried about Nieds, because Capt. Lou may have over-played him last year. Once you over-play an old guy, who's not capable of it, he's done. |

I was just teasing him, mechaphil (if that IS your real name). No smiley hinting at sarcasm = open game. With as little sexual intercourse as I've experienced in my lifetime I can barely justify using that same analogy myself. And it is a good one. As far as looking at these numbers seriously, everybody, please keep in mind that rosters are not set. About 10 teams are all around 28. Once the guys like Jay McKee are signed (34 years old) around the league the Sabres could very quickly be up to around the 15th youngest. They are done adding older players for now, a lot of other teams are not. They are like literally a .8 away from entering the top 20. And most importantly, players ages are relevant to their ice-time, and the quality of those minutes. They have a couple of older 3rd line minute guys, and an older 3rd pairing defense men. All of which are physical beasts who taking being a professional athlete, dead serious. There's really nothing at all to worry about, it's just a snap shot of a stat that changes a lot. It's only meaningful when a team is too young or too old. The Sabres are actually right around the middle of the pack, which is exactly where you want to be when it comes to this number. |
