Of course every arena is different and some opposing teams fans are more tolerant than others.... ...so which are the friendliest and which are the worst? More specifically: I will be In Chicago for the Oct 16th game. 300 level at the United Center. Shall I wear a disguise? |

i went to a game during the 06-07 season in chicago. the arena was half sabre fans, and it was 2/3rds full. people treated me well, except the ushers who laughed when i fell down the stairs (i had my ankle reconstructed the week before) when a crutch slipped. but they also let me take the owners suite elevator down after the game. it was pretty awesome. |

Tell them they're all bandwagon fans and that just two years ago their attendance was terrible. Insult their pizza and remind them that chelsea dagger sucks balls. |

I'm always kind to opposing teams fans when they come to Pittsburgh, and I'll be even nicer now that I don't care about the Penguins. This younger generation of Penguins fans are pretty much dicks. Well, I take that back, it's more like a fan-cell than a generation. Some people, when you see them, you just know they are dicks, and it's very predictable when I see them dump a beer on somebody's head or making sure that the fight they start is being video recorder by his girl. I'd say that 60% of Pens fans don't really care what jersey you wear or who you're rooting for as long as you don't continuously bother people by acting the fool. Another 30% will give you a look or make a snide remark (usually good natured) and will be sure to let you know what the score is when they are leading. And then there's the 10% dicks, probably closer to 3% but be warned. The Sabres don't really register on the rivalry radar. There were some epic playoff series in the past, but NOTHING like Philly or Washington. Those are THE most hated around here. I think Toronto fans were REALLY starting to wear out their welcome, Caps fans are getting pretty obnoxious too but unlike the Leafs fans they don't show up in big numbers. As for the Flyers, well shit. I've been goign to Penguin games for decades and I do not recall EVER...not one time seeing a Flyers jersey in the Mellon Arena. I'm sure there have been plenty, I just know that I've never seen one. |

I don't really interact with opposing fans ever. Most of the ones I end up around happen to be dicks though. In the rags game where we clinched the division, one guy near me was ejected for tossing a beer can on the ice. |

Chicago does have one of the better Newspapers in the Sun-Times, and they have Roger Ebert. |

Opposing fans get a mountain of shit in HSBC Arena (at least, in the 300s). I would expect to get heckled if I went elsewhere. |

Most opposing fans (except for Leafs and Habs probably) have said that Buffalo fans have generally been good to them. They obviously get the token jabs that's expected when you're an opposing fan, but I've always gotten a good consensus from opposing fans that Buffalonians are usually pretty accomadating to them. But man, does it get UGLY during Leafs games. Takes the fun out of the whole game. |

I was chirping back and forth with him the whole game. haha. |

Hurricane fans always complain about Buffalo Fans about being rude and drunk and really rowdy. I don't blame them, because they sure do like to get drunk and rowdy. |

I've been to many arenas heres what i think- BRUTAL - NY Rangers/Philly BAD- Toronto, Pittsburgh, Detroit GOOD- Columbus, Ottawa (surprising), Carolina BEST- Washington But, to be fair, i went to Wash when they didn't sell out much (last game i saw there was Ovie hit on Briere game) so it wasnt a packed crazy arena at the time. They were all awesome people, at the arena and at the bars. NYR was so bad, mostly due to it being a playoff game but it was horrid. |

I was at an Amerks game in 2006 and this Marlies fan was just awesome, a real cool dude. He had a little drum or whatever to start a "Lets-Go-Mar-Lies" chant, and there were some Amerks kids that were trying to outscream him, so he started beating the tune for them to chant to. I'm sure that that was a one-time thing, but it's really my only interaction with another fan directly, other than getting in a fistfight at the verizon center with a friend of mine after he'd had one too many and started taking my shit talking personally (It was a Caps-Canes game, and I was rooting for the caps all the way)... |

Way back in the day, a bud and I drove from NS to Toronto for a Leafs/Hawks game at the old Maple Leaf Gardens. We weren't sitting way up in back (What could be considered the 300's) it was actually one of the corner balconies. I was told to, "Get the fuck back to Chicago" because I wasn't welcomed in "Their town". After the guy found out I was from Nova Scotia, he still drilled me calling me mindless and I don’t know what real hockey is about. I yelled back at him that if I were mindless and lived in a box, then I’d wear a Leafs jersey. Leaf fans have to be the most ignorant, egotistical pieces of trash I've ever had the unfortunate chance to be around for a game. Even the ones in my home town here, Jesus Christ they’re hard to live with. Because of this, I firmly believe that no matter where you are, most Leaf fans are real obnoxious people that see the world through blue & white glasses. I call them, the "Children of Ballard". Fast forward to 2 seasons ago to the game in Montreal when Loods scored in sudden death shootout, the Mrs. and I (She was a habs fan at the time) drove up for that game. I have to say that as a city, Montreal is a very beautiful place and the people were great! Even at the Bell Centre. I'd say I was one of maybe 30 Sabres fans in attendance and we sat down in the 100's, 8 rows back from the ice behind the penalty box. I took some friendly heckling which was ok because I was giving it back to them with good humor. One guy was real nice and actually apologized for his buddy being a little too drunk & rowdy and said it was nice to see someone who was such a die hard fan, to drive from Buffalo to Montreal just to see their team play, knowing they'd be heckled All & all, friendly drubbing is always good when it's in good spirit. It adds to the game, I find. But some can take it a little too far. My advice, don't let one or two pricks give you a negative head about a city. Enjoy the game, the local flavors and take it all in! |

I didn't get a lot of grief for it until some guy walked up to our seats with two full beers, one for me and one for my girlfriend. But he wasn't giving them to us to drink, he was gonna dump them on us! Luckily he noticed my Big Ben jersey underneath before following through!. Epilogue: I did get a drink dumped on me by accident at a Steelers game, by some stupid, fat, clumsy whore faced douche lover. |

i got punched at the 2000-2001 red wings sabres game in detroit, as well as ice thrown at me. but that was it. some guy also yelled in my face after shanahan won the game in overtime. in the 2006-2007 game, some guy tried to heckle me after the sabres won it in a shootout, but it didnt get me. the sabres are well represented at the Joe. |
