so much for letting the kid learn a lesson on behaviour before signing him.

The past is the past. The kid made a mistake and he admitted it. I'm sure with guys like Niedermayer and Montador on the team they will have him in the right direction.

Kassian is a big kid that plays a hard physical game and is a very good fighter. He has to be a douchebag or play with a chip on his shoulder. The guy reminds me of Bertuzzi when he was younger.

Word on the street is that Kaleta is a raging douchebag when he's drunk too. Nobody seems to worry about him on the roster though.

Not saying that you do.

I'm just willing to give Kassian a little slack. I think we can agree that punching a guy in the mouth can be quite different than starting (or participating in) an all out bar brawl.

I take it as a positive that he's come into camp with no contract and seemed to work his tail off regardless. Time will tell of course.

We don't have to like it but if the kid can play at this level now then you have to make this move. I'm glad the kid had a good game but he must be making a strong impression during practice and scrimmages.

i am as well. im very high on kassian as a player. im very excited for him. i dont like hearing hes a dbag off the ice, but alot of players probably are.

im glad hes making strides to keep his nose clean, and his game to a higher level. that being said, i really feel, at this point, an additional season in the OHL is what he needs. him getting first line minutes in windsor is going to be far more beneficial then him getting 6 minutes a game in buffalo. thats just where i am in thought.

Agreed but I'm sure the organization see's more than we do with the kid being around everyday.

agreed, thats why i put "thats where i am in thought"

everyone loves the people who think they know the team better then the staff, but we all do it sometimes.

Bingo! Hopefully that bar fight incident & the Sabres reaction was the wake-up call the kid needed. Having "everything" taken away from you (his possible POV) when you think you are teflon might have hit him like ice water. Plus he can't go drinking in Buffalo- underage, right? Right now he's hanging out with a bunch of veterans, professionals, people who have grown up a bit.

Or maybe Grier will simply scare him straight.

It's no excuse. The guy had a dirty headshot, a bar fight, and presumed an asshole. It's nothing to just meh at.

If he puts together 3 or 4 more pre-season looking the way he did on Friday, I'd have no problem with the Sabres offering him a pro deal

So you never did anything stupid at my age and his then? You were a perfect angel who followed every rule and law set out for you? You must have been valedictorian also, because if you were perfect you would have been at the top, and you also would have gone to Harvard, Yale, or some other Ivy League school because you did everything you were asked to do.

So, you're going to be a hypocrite on this kid, when everyone does stupid things in life, and the only way to learn not to do some of these things is well, to do them and get punished for doing such things.

He got a 20 game suspension for a headshot, I think he'll never do that again, or at least not intentionally. He got arrested and charged for the barfight too, not always good in the public.

I don't care if he is a presumed asshole, most guys are assholes anyways.

I never assaulted a guy for looking at me the wrong way. Nor did I ever headshot someone.

Well, still. He plays hockey tough, he is bound to have bad hits sometimes. Even Kaleta has very questionable hits.
