Bill Hoppe reports Rivet is good to go for Friday, Vanek feels he'll be in the line-up, and Lalime is optimistic as well. |

What happened to Vanek? I haven't been keeping up on the injury reports. |

Lalime needs that groin muscle for all that strenuous bench sitting. |

All this talk of the season opener and us getting some key guys back makes me Curious as to how Rivet will be on the ice though with no preseason action as a warm up... |

Rivet is a professional so he will be fine. I don't doubt one bit he won't be ready. |

Hopefully Vanek will be good to go, and will stay healthy for the entire season + playoffs. I think he's in for a big year. And yes, anybody on the blue line except Butler. What the fuck happened to him??? |

"should be good to go full throttle"... nice to hear. Quote: Finally, I’ve been on the ice today again after my neck-injury, though I skated with the extra forward-line and without any physical contact. I felt really great and didn’t feel any aftereffects. If there isn’t any setback over night I should be good to go full throttle from Wednesday on. The injury, well, that was really a goofy way to get injured. Against Montreal I got checked in the corner hard (but fair) first. Seconds later I scored, fell down and immediately got the knee of a defender in my neck. I was seeing stars for a short time and set out the remainder of the game, just to be sure. You don’t fool around with head injuries. I head a headache until Sunday, but for heaven’s sake the doctors couldn’t find anything that would mean a concussion. I’m very optimistic for the start of the season. And that refers to my health as well as to the status of our team. Camp was great, everybody is extremely motivated and wants to accomplish great things this year. We start off with 6 games in 9 nights, so that’s a great opportunity to get it going really good and maybe get a jump start on the other teams. Yes, we want to bring the Stanley Cup to Buffalo, finally. I really believe that we can achieve that. But: We mustn’t only talk but get things done on the ice, too. Finally, it really must be shortly before the start of the season, as media requests from Austria are starting to pile up again. It’s just like every year. The closer the start of the season gets, the more phone-calls from home come in. I think it’s great, because it shows that people at home are still very interested in hockey. http://www.thomasvanek.at |
