How have the newcomers been playing so far? I was glued to the play of Myers and some veterans so I don't know how well they have been playing..

Morrisonn - very good, tossing his big frame around, good first pass, great on the kill

Leopold - good skater, decent vision, not so good on the one-on-one battles

Niedermayer - went 6/8 (80%) on face-offs, great defensively

And Ennis had 2 assists.

Leopold kind of goofed on the Ottawa goal, but I'll let it slide.

Yup. I think he's got a great chance at winning the calder, too.

Leopold was awful. Just awful. He's Toni Lydman 2.0. He turns the puck over nonstop. He can't even handle one-on-ones in the corners. He ALWAYS pinches, and the Sabres are therefore caught in an odd-man rush.

I loved Ennis. He reminded me of Afinogenov, and what we wanted him to be. I truly believe Ennis could be a special player.

I didn't notice Morrisonn, and for a stay-at-home defenseman, that's a good thing in my book.

All in all, I was impressed with the team's performance. All of our players seemed fearless last night. I even saw Stafford getting into the mix of things.

Leopold made a lot of safe simple passes to get the puck out of our zone, something Lydman often didn't do.

Leopold was solid. Made one bad play and people are calling him a bum.

Morrissonn was positionally solid, physical, played a great game in my mind.

I thought Morrisonn and Niedermayer were very good last night. I love what Niedermayer brings to this team.

Not to mention that also at fault on that play are Montador for doing a really shitty job of breaking up the pass, and Connolly getting too far ahead of the play to get back and play defense.

I don't know. Every time I saw the puck given away in the 3rd period, I would look and see that Leopold was the one lagging behind. He may not have been the culprit on a lot of giveaways, but that just isn't sound defense.

This, but if I may be so bold? Thank you, I think Morrisonn has a decent first pass, but he needs to work on that to get into the "great" category. I think it's going to be even tougher for him as a Sabre because they seem to have some systematic breakout flaws as a team. Morrisonn acquired 11 assists with the high flying Caps last season, I doubt he will get 10 this season. Having said that, he more than makes up for his liabilities with his one on one and physical play. And really, his first option should always be Myers who is tremendous with his first pass.

They could certainly be one of the 5 best tandems in the entire league this season.

nah he played a solid game, he failed to get proper body position and that lead to the n-zone turnover. Very correctable, he either needs to position himself better to protect the puck or pass it back to Miller who is more than willing to help out in that regard.

He got caught in a bad position, and used every ounce of strength he had to fight off the two Ottawa players digging for his puck.

Not too shabby for Leopold tonight.. My dad is doing a job in Leopold's house and he told him that the fans of Buffalo would love him if he would shoot a lot on the PP.. Of course Leopold probably took what he said with a grain of salt but you gotta love his 2 goals tonight..
