Watching the Rangers game showed the same old usual routine...win a game and then play a home game all fancy as if they can do whatever they want out on the ice. No attention to detail or simple fundamentals.

The quotes in this article coyld have been copied and pasted from any number of games over the last few seasons.

Do you mean this one....Which is a friggin broken record with this tream

Quote:
"Guys are trying to be a little too fancy and trying to do too much," Miller said. "A lot of passes were in the air, 'saucer' passes. That extra move, that no-look pass. You have to establish the other game first.

"That's what we have to take away from this: Establish our grinding game first and then it's going to open up some opportunity to be the creative team that we are."

You could read that same quote for half the teams in this league after a clunker.

Hopefully Buffalo got that shitty game out of their system for awhile now before they start playing some better teams. I was going to say that game against the Rangers was by far their worst game they played including the preseason. I'm looking for Myers to get back to his usual self tonight against Chicago. The last two games seems like he been fighting the puck. Puck has been jumping on him and it doesn't seem like he has been moving his feet like we are use to seeing.

I was hoping Miller would say something. I mean its only two games in so what evs but I do think they need to knock off the fancy shit until they gel more. The fancy pants shit works sometimes, fails others but this early in when we aren't firing on all cylinders yet, we need to stick to the basics. Doesn't have to be pretty to work.

My only issue with the fancy stuff is when they are trying that pass threw their legs down low that never works. Vanek and Roy usually pulls that crap! The last game wasn't so much the fancy stuff but all the breakdowns in the defensive zone where guys were missing assignments.

I agree and have been both listening to and adding to the fair share of bitching over the fancy shit for a long time(except for when it works  )

I love the Buffalo Sabres. I really do.

But the fan drama surrounding this team makes me seriously doubt the viability of my fandom. It's that bad.

You want a drama-free fanbase? Root for a team in the South that no one gives two shits about.

Yeah guys...do you really think this stuff is unique to just the Sabres? Or the overreaction of fans? You'll see this stuff with any team, in any sport.

Exactly...every "hockey city" with a rabid fanbase is going to be riddled with drama. Look at the two centers of the hockey universe - Toronto and Montreal. Even when things are going beautifully, the drama is suffocating.

Points taken.

I just can't believe it begins two games in.

PSP, maybe since you're not from western NY you avoided catching Buffalo sports fan syndrome. Western NY fans expect the worst, and whenever anything starts going wrong, I almost feel a lot of start to look for reasons to complain. Feeling bad about your team becomes a habit for them, and habits are hard to break.

as the most popular team (soccer) in upper austria is struggling for years and only has a budget of 5 million euro (topteams in the austrian bundesliga have 18 -40 million euro) , the fans are happy when the players give their best and stay in that league (the last one of ten teams has to leave).
