It's not my intention to rain on the parade---and you can call me crazy, but I actually would've prefered a tight 1 or 2 goal victory. Why? Well, because in the last few seasons, this team has demonstarted a pattern of snapping out of a losing streak with a decisive high scoring game---only to almost immediately revert back to all the habits that created the losing streak. I don't know if it's because they go from low confidence to overconfidence or what, but after a losing streak, once they start scoring, it opens the flood gate and everybody suddenly is trying to get on the board. Why not during all those other games? Consistancy. It's all about consistancy. I think the 2nd game after a losing streak has ended is at least as important as the one that ended the streak. Let's see what they have for the Flyers on Tuesday. THAT will be a very telling contest in determining if this Sabres team is ready to turn the corner. |

I was thinking the EXACT same thing! |

You consistently spelled consistence wrong. So thank you for practicing what you preach - consistently. |

Snark aside, I do 100% agree with your point about the high-scoring slump-buster. |

Well, with all things considered and as many losses as we've had, we're only 2 points out of 1st place in the Northeast and 4 from 1st in the Conference lol |

End a skid? What do you mean? The Sabres are 2-1 in their last three, and they're playing good hockey! What I mean is, the end of a bad streak is some form of win-loss-win pattern. The engine sputters just before it starts. |

Call me crazy, but I prefer to actually see the next game before declaring that they've returned to bad habits. |

I agree with that post, too. Following the high-scoring, goalie-running win, I want to see another convincing win. |

In the past few seasons, they had games in hand on most at this point. The reverse is true this season, with most teams having 1, 2 or even 3-in-hand on them. They've definitely got some catching up to do. |

I'm gonna have to agree with PSP, its not like this is ending a losing streak, we beat ATL 4-1 2 games before this one. You could say that the ATL game was our decisive slump buster and this is just a follow-up win after we lost to Ottawa |

I do think there's something to the point that winning by blowout doesn't show a team's character in the same way as winning a close game does. I'd really like to see Buffalo win some close games. But beggars can't be choosers, so I'll take the blowouts if that's the only way they can win. |

This team has had a nasty trend of ups and downs and even though it's great to see a big win like we saw against the Devils, I would like a bit more evenness. If we could string a few wins together that were close and then pepper that trend with a few bigger goal fests I would have more confidence. That being said, let's see what happens tonight. |

After opening scoring, they vanished against a team that has played three games in four nights and played last night. Not surprised, just sayin. |
