Luke Adam was recalled from the Portland Pirates and will make his NHL debut tonight against the Flyers in Philadelphia, just as Tyler Ennis did last season.

Adam skated with the team this morning. He will wear No. 72. He is second on the Pirates in scoring with 10 points (five goals and five assists) in eight games. Mark Mancari has 11 points. The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder was a second-round draft pick of the Sabres in 2008.

He will replace Rob Niedermayer, who stayed in Buffalo to be with his wife, who gave birth to a girl on Monday.

He looked ok in the preseason, I hope he plays well. It's always nice to have some pressure on the roster spots by AHL players

I'm a fan of this.

Adam has been ripping shit up in Portland thus far. Hope he does the same tonight to some Philthy Cryers!

Side note, congrats to Nieds & his wife on their new little girl! :D

Who would have thought that Adam would play because Niedermayer scored.

Well played sir. Absolutely epic.

Grats to Mr. and Mrs. Niedermayer , and their future little playoff beard.

EDIT: To celebrate, here's what Rob has to look forward to.

Awesome for both of them.

Can't wait to see Lukey Boy.

+1

Hopefully Adam pulls an Ennis and ends up sticking around...

If Adams is his center tonight, I see all kinds of good from these 2 together. To me, in any event, the only thing missing from this line is Kassian on RW.

Ennis (LW) - Adams (C) - Kassian (RW)
This will be a dominant line for the Buffalo Sabres. In my humble opinion, it should be this seasons Line 3 already.

Well Ennis didn't stick around after his first call-up either.

I don't expect Adam to stick around, he's better off getting first line Portland minutes then 3rd line Sabre minutes.

I thought he had a very solid game last night. Had some decent hits, rung one off the post but over all I was pleased with his play.

He had some great chances, I really wish he'd put one of them in.
