Like many here, I have just accepted the idea that Lindy is a great coach. I've been hearing about how respected Lindy is around the league and why it would be ridiculous to fire such a well-respected coach.

After hearing this today for the 1000th time, I finally have to ask: WHY is he such a great coach? Is there any other coach who is so highly thought of who has never won a championship?

You can argue roster, assets, etc. but the fact is, players come and go on all teams, as do coaches. So WHY is he so untouchable? Why is he considered the golden child above 155 other coaches who've been fired since he became coach 14 seasons ago?

You'd think the guy won a few titles in a row and for that he's a sentimental favorite...but there has been NO TITLE!

So why the love affair?

Oh, ok that's right. It was all Babcock in Vancouver. Ruff was just there as bench dressing, I forgot. He's awful... And to answer your question, he is on the same level as Barry Trotz in Nashville. They both manage to get results, even when they're not dealt a great hand roster wise... Fuck, don't we have enough Lindy Ruff threads yet?
