I find it historical that Pomminville makes 5 million a season. LOL I mean WHAT were they thinking? He's not a bad player, he certainly adds some talented intangibles to the special teams. Based on his talent alone, he doesn't look like he should be in the NHL let alone making 5 million! Sorry, I've been thinking it for some time now, I keep waiting for him to show up, but the fact that he hasn't yet supports my theory.
While I'm at it I might as well rip Vanek and Myers too. Are these men not supposed to be leaders? If not, then never-mind this mini-rant. If they ARE to be considered leaders then shouldn't they show up with some intensity and maintain it for the whole game? Montador and Roy appear to be dialed in every shift, while Vanek and Myers seem to lose interest. Myers especially, he's got some between the ears work to do if he's ever going to reach his full potential. Montador doesn't have as much talent, and so he doesn't have the pressures and responsibilities of a Myers, but man is he focused. Myers should take notes, Montador is always thinking out there, always a step ahead of everybody else. Myers seems intimidated or just simply aloof, instead of making the BEST routine plays all the time. I'm just talking about the little things, Myers isn't paying attention to the details, because I can tell. Funny thing is Myers gets focused in the third periods and overtimes, but I just never see that same player in the 1st or 2nd periods nearly enough. Vanek just seems to not be a team player, he seems a little bit too self involved with his game. That's not helping the team OR Vanek.
Sekera made a terrible mistake, shit happens. The Sabres actually played pretty good, but I thought they were not focused enough, not mentally sharp.
I don't like the way Ruff plays his #1 in back to back games, especially coming back from injury. Sure the team needs a nice 3 or 4 game winning streak, but I think goalies need the next day off to recover.
Well I'll call you retarded before Jay does. Vanek has shown the willingness to do whatever he has to to help the team. Shoot, pass, kill penalties, take a beating in front of the net, forecheck, backcheck, even block shots.
Being self involved is trying to skate through three guys on a zone entry, we have at least two guys that do this consistently and they both have 9s on their jerseys.
