more than likely he did not think the money was fair or he doesn't believe quinn will be taken care of (with his history i would not be surprised if he got fired and was just paid to go away, which would be a nice severence). Sabres Edge Sabres price tag: $175 million Dec 1, 2010 5:08:32 PM / Comment Buffalo Sabres owner Tom Golisano was asking for $175 million from billionaire businessman Terry Pegula to purchase the team, The Buffalo News has learned. The asking price had been a subject of widespread speculation, including one report that had it at $150 million. No word yet on whether any agreement, verbal or otherwise, has been reached. It didn't appear that Pegula signed a letter of intent to purchase the team, but sources confirmed the $175 million price tag and suggested Pegula would accept such a deal. Pegula did not return telephone calls seeking comment today and has not spoken publicly about his interest in purchasing the franchise. That report came out early this morning. Since then, Quinn has confirmed that Golisano and Pegula are negotiating ("When they're done, they're done," was his reponse to questions about how far along Pegula is to making an offer and buying the team. - from WIVB) , and more specifics have come out about Golisano and Pegula agreeing on a $175M price tag. He's doing what every good business owner does; Plays his cards close until the time is right. (On a side note, we have a 10 page thread about the happenings surrounding the sale. We don't need a new thread for every new development.) |
