Damn your threads annoy me, but this is the first one that was actually a "new" discussion.

I don't think it'll affect the players at all. Until changes happen to the roster from Lindy Ruff down (in a top-to-bottom hierarchical model, with Owner at top, and Players on bottom), it's going to be business as usual for them.

I don't think it will effect the overall teams performance at all.
I mean, certain players know they are out of here when the seasons up, or before.
The rest have no where to go but up judging by our place in the standings.

Now if Mr. Pegula brings some kind of new management team in to attempt to save this season, its possible they make the playoffs, but I believe Darcy and Linday will play out their contracts and well,,,,,,,we will just have to see where it goes from there.

If we are out of it by mid JAN. and getting back up to playoff points is still possible, but a tough road to haul for the season, I personally hope Pegula orderes Regier to trade UFA assets for picks at the deadline to maximize returns, keep Vanek and Roy as far as the forwards go, and attempt to trade up at draft day and have a deep draft, especially in the 2nd round.

This way the Sabres can fill some of that foward depth they need with young guys and sign FA's or make trades to bring in others.
Building the bottom 6 is not difficult, but rebuilding line 2 and finding a winger for Roy and Vanek may be challenging. I would imagine were going to see Kassian up next season and Adam as a line 3 center at the least.

I don't know why this thread would annoy you, it's actually a pretty good and valid question. As a matter of fact, it was one of the first things I thought of when hearing about the possible sale. Don't be so fragile.

Ever work for a company that's been sold? It has a very different affect on each employee. The Sabres, even though they have contracts, are no different.

I don't think it's really going to have any affect on the team...they're all professionals and they're aware that ownership changes hands from time to time in this business. I mean, it's not like when the Sabres went bankrupt and people weren't sure what was going to happen to the team. In this case, a billionaire is potentially selling the team to another billionaire, so, nothing to really worry about in regards to who is going to be signing their paychecks.

That is a big difference between now and then, although the players who are underperforming will not be so crazy about "new eyes" scrutinizing their play. That's a good thing.

I doubt that this sale will be as disruptive as the last.

When TG bought the team from the NHL, the team was bankrupt. Players have guaranteed contracts, but they were wondering if the team was going to meet payroll at some points. Regular expenses had to be cut back because the team just didn't have any money. They didn't even know if the team would be in Buffalo the next year.

This time through, the team is financially solid and secure. The players don't have to worry about paychecks or franchise relocation. It shouldn't be that much of a disruption at all.

I think what annoys me the most about 'powerplayer's threads is the fact that I have to look at Pink's nasty, sagging side-boob.

Back to the topic on hand, I don't think this situation will affect the team's play.

It won't affect anything.

Oh, and I voted, "Not at all."

It annoys me since we don't need six threads to discuss one topic. We also don't need a new thread every time something new happens or someone comes up with a new "what if". If we hear about TP going to the owners meeting do we start a new thread or could we simply continue the ongoing discussion in the existing thread? Pose your "What do you think will happen" questions in the established area instead of making a bunch of threads that barely differ in content. Just saying.

I couldn't disagree more.

While some threads are redundant, others that are related to the same topic ARE necessary.

Some of these threads that are to do with a big topic, like the rumored sale, become waaaaay too unwieldy in their size and fragmentation. Ever try to discuss a specific angle when there are 10 other people creating unrelated crosstalk? Not fun.

There are many times where I personally don't add to a thread because the thread has become so chaotic and all-over-the-road, that trying to discuss a specific or important angle is near impossible---unless you start a new thread---which may then be nuked or merged with the already gigantic thread because it's similar in content.

DF has a point, although it doesn't relate to this thread.

The big thread is about the sale itself. Discussion about the sale itself should stay there. That's why I closed your 'FALSE ALARM?' thread; It was a duplication. Those big threads do stray off topic from time to time, but they generally veer back towards the matter at hand on their own.

This thread is more about the effects of the sale on the team. It's related to the sale, but different enough that it makes sense to stand on it's own.

If you're unhappy with the way this board is moderated PP, which you clearly do based on your remarks, you're free to post elsewhere. Nobody is forcing you to be here. We do the best we can to try and keep the boards readable for the majority of the users here. If our decisions on what to merge and combine don't meet with your approval, I'm not sure what to say to you.

PP, I definitely hear what you're saying. I used to be a big proponent of new threads for updated information. Others here, however, don't like it that way, and elected to keep things together.

I wasn't a fan of it at first, but it grew on me. I think it'll grow on you, too.

It's really not that big a deal. I didn't exactly just bring it up out of the blue. It only came up because someone decided to criticize the thread itself, not the content, so I addressed that.

Basically telling me to "deal with it or GTFO" wasn't called for.

I'm not meaning to pick on ya PP, and I guess I'm speaking more to the threads you have created in general rather than this one specifically. All I'm saying is that SOMETIMES you have created a few threads which were just not needed. When we have two, three, four etc threads about essentially the same topic it gets annnoying. One thread to talk about proceedings of the sale and one about the effects on the team I can see but there has to be a limit (nothing official, just use common sense). Creating a new thread each time something new pops up or each time you get a fresh idea about the topic just becomes a bit cluttering. Nothing personal, I'm just not a fan of several threads about one topic when one or two would be plenty.

I think if you were to have posed this idea of how the team will be effected in a post in the main thread, people would have been more than happy to hypothesize and chime in. The beauty of this community is that unless the topic is in serious need of a good old fashioned thread jacking, we tend to stay on topic (though yes, some of us have ADD :) ).

This is just a simple poll to get an idea of how people think the team's play will be affected. Mixing this up with a moster thread about the sale in general would be a mistake.

I'm not saying that you aren't entitled to start threads or have a different opinion than I do but it is a clue when several people who have been members of this community for years tell you that you are starting too many similarly themed threads. It's not illegal, just annoying. Carry on man.

What I am reading is some saying I have IN THE PAST. Where have I done it LATELY?

Geeeez, get off my ass already. One person makes the comment, then others pile on. Enough. This mob mentality BS is really getting old. Mods I can deal with, but all the mod-wannabe's are getting annoying! Maybe I too should start going around and criticizing why this thread or that is in existence. God knows there are some pretty lame ones, but it's not my place to point that out. Has anyone EVER seen me pull this shit? Nope. Doesn't happen.

This board really does have some of the tightest asses in hockey fandom.
