An earned victory, the opponent looked tired from their road trip, Buffalo should have had the victory and did.

Secondary scoring played a pivotal role. Goose and McCormicks goals and effort on those goals won this game.
Goose with the empty netter to secure it. Nicely done.

Some thoughts on defensive play for a moment. Do not be discouraged, we are young on D but the effort and learning curve is coming together. The only 1 I found suspect on the ice was Butler, but just a couple of times.

Roy and Vanek, what can you say. Great pass to Vanek infront of the net on the second goal. Absolutely outstanding. The second empty netter was just icing on the cake.

Pomminville on the break away shorthanded, nicely done.
On a side note: Pomminville played well with Adam and Mancari, I did not like the fact that Ruff switched it up and send Pommers over to Hecht and Kaleta. Since he did do that, I wanted to see Ennis with Adam and Mancari just for a looksee.
And on Mancari, he did nothing wrong this game. He wasn't even around the play when that 1 SJ goal was scored, that was on a gaffe in the D zone on the back end. He used his body in the corners and along the boards. He did his job, not bad.

I liked Weber attempting to go down on that shot in the 3rd, they scored, but he was willing to sacrifice.
Yes, like I said, we are a young team, but we are learning, let the rebuild continue........

A much needed victory, lets hope they keep it rolling.

I think he moved Ennis to be with Adam and Mancari so he had a line to sit; they didn't play much the 2nd half of the 3rd.

And to be pedantic, Vanek's goal wasn't the "second empty netter", it was a goal against a goalie ;)

Hey, cut me some slack, I was typing this after the EN..... ;)

But yes, you are correct, Ruff went to 3 lines and sat Mancari, Ennis and Adam. Rightfully so with the game on the line as well. Just would have been nice to see them together for a looksee is all.

Myers a +5 this game, Sekera a +4......
Our number 1 Defensive pairing looks to be coming along nicely.
Myers did fantastic work down low in the corners in our defensive zone tonight tying guys up, like Thorton and Heatley. Great work by both of them.

I love Weber's diving to block shots, it's great to have a guy willing to do that.

Great game for sure though. PK still needs more work though. It needs to be better.

I don't understand why some people don't like it. I love that they listen to MJ when they win. Heavy metal before the game(or whatever pumps you up), and upbeat songs the whole team likes after a win. MJ FTW.

I think it's the whole molestation thing. Honestly, I don't care what they listen to.

So this is how good the Sabres can be with a little scoring depth? Nice.

The team played really well, much better puck support in this one.

I'm looking forward to Saturdays game versus the Penguins! BETTER WIN!

Going to be a tough one. Pittsburgh is on an 11 game win streak so hopefully the Sabres can be the ones to end it. Main goal: SHUT DOWN CROSBY. (impossible task but we can dream)

I think we looked pretty decent. Miller probably could have stopped the one's he let in...but he was alright.
Things that make me smile:

3 pts for each for Gaustad and McCormick.

Gerbe, 2 assists...and actually looked dangerous with those 2 chances in the first. Usually when he goes in, defenseman collapse on him easily and his shots are deflected, but he had a couple good cut-ins where he got good shots.

Roy-2 assists to stay close to PPG.

Sekera- he has looked so good tis season

Myers- atta boy, +5! Hopefully this will boost his confidence. Also him rushing behind the net...showing more of what he did last year the past few games.

And Vanek has 17 points in his last 14 games by the way.

Gives him 24 points in 29 games. 13 goals and 11 assists. Keep it up Vanek.

Not only that but Crosby himself is on a 17 game point streak at the moment I believe.

35 pts in 17 games. Anyone still think OV is better? :D

I jinx Saturday every week but it has always happened. :)

Not that there is a point to prove but someone called the win against the Sharks and they won anyway. I guess that was a missed call by the hockey gods. Lucky ;)

The first half of the game, they did play well. The 2nd half? Not so much. SJ outscored them 3-1 before the Sharks had to pull the G. The empty netter & final goal were not hard-fought.

The 2 points were critical, but I didn't see this as a test at all, given the fact that the Sharks were pretty clearly tired and slow. It seems that the last few seasons the Sabres caught them at the end of a road trip. That's a pattern worth keeping.
