So this last game we put ourselves in a deep hole. However, after the first period we outplayed them badly the rest of the game. We were on the verge of taking the lead when Myers was blatantly tripped spinning around a Panther player. Because of the no call, the Panthers came down on a 2-1 and scored on a shot Miller could have stopped. But they shouldn't have had the 2-1 anyway, because there should have been a call, and a PP for us with about 5 minutes left in the game.

So where do you draw the line? Was it our fault because we played like shit in the 1st, and Miller didn't make the gamesaving stop on the 2-1? Or did we get screwed over by the refs on an absolute horseshit no-call?

PS - Merry Christmas everybody!

HORSESHIT NO CALL

That's my only option ever.

It was both. They put themselves in a bad position, and then got a bad break which helped their opponent.

but DAMN miller should have had that shot.

We have to play a full 60 minutes and Miller should have stopped that shot. It was our own fault.

I know the refs are terrible in the NHL, but it goes both ways. Our team is just plain meh. Nothing to write home about sadly.

Come on people we are all big sabres fans here but lets be honest about this. This team isn't good enough to compete for the Stanley Cup and I don't know about you but I would like for them to at least win once in my lifetime.
With Roy out now this team is worse. He was are best playmaking center. I would rather them keep losing and end up with a top 5 pick since this is the only way Darcy and Company can get quality players here. But in the big picture I'm really hoping that Tom sells the team soon to Terry Pegula and he changes the whole organization from top to bottom. Their is no reason to give some of the best fans in the world a mediocre product and think it's okay. This team should be thinking playoffs every year and should be a top run organization. I guess what I'm looking forward to is seeing Foligno and Kassian progressing and getting better as Foligno has gotten a ton better than most expected. You figure if they can end up with a top 5 pick that would be a quality Center or forward that this team desperately needs in the future. Yes I already know about junior players and it takes a few years to develop unless your Tyler Myers.

Unless it really is their fault. It's never out of the equation.

One the first bolded part, go jump off a bridge. This idea that any team should lose for a better draft pick is fucking absurd.

One the second bolded part, I think it's REALLY arrogant to say that we have the 'best fans in the world'.

He said SOME of the best fans in the world. We're certainly not the worst.

Lising and screwed over are both the same. Here are obvious signs you are likely to lose/screw yourself:
1.) You score a set number of goals and stand pat. If you play a good defense, which is very hard for us, you could win games. If you fail to defend your zone constantly, you will lose often.
2.) You are trailing the game by a specific number of goals. You furious tie the game at the last minute and stand pat. That energy fades and allows the opponent to make that game winning goal.
3.) Your goaltender leaves the net wide open and allows too many soft goals.
4.) You play the puck too long in your zone because you failed to clear it out in the first place. Give away the puck, and you will be scored upon.
5.) Players show up in name only. They are invisible and do not score goals when they need to. Vanek is in this group this week, and so was Roy, who met an unfortunate fate. Stafford can find himself here as well.

First off I wouldn't think this way if we had ownership and management that would give a damn about putting a quality team together and keep the key pieces to the puzzle. Or maybe make a trade for a big name player or a move that doesn't bring in another rental player. Sorry but how many years has Darcy been here and we haven't won shit. Sorry to say this but look at the top teams in the league they sucked for awhile and had great drafts. Washington, Pittsburgh, Chicage just to name a few. The core players they built around and the role players are expenable. Not many teams are like Detroit that has great scouting overseas.
We do have some of the best fans in the world. Lets see I was in Anaheim and Los Angeles a few years back when Buffalo went there and their were at least a few thousand Sabres Fans at each game. Let face it look when Buffalo plays Florida or Tampa Bay their is a big following of Sabres Fans in those cities just like when they travel West.

If its a buffalo team they are always screwed over and if they don`t have that happen they likely will screw themselves over.

That's a great wall of text. None of it has to do with teams tanking for draft picks, which was your main point I disputed. Sucking for a while and stacking draft picks is completely different than not trying to win games to get those draft picks.

Just because Sabres fans travel well doesn't mean we're the greatest fans in the world. You know where I can find a couple thousand fans of the opposing team? Every Red Sox away game.

The 'best fans in the world' also wouldn't have a half dead arena with no energy on most nights, which we do here.

I really wish people would stop with the whole Terry Pegula being the fucking savior for this team who is going to turn things around instantaneously. It may be a step in the right direction, but this guy isn't gonna pull a fantastic GM, coach, and stellar players out of his ass so we can win the rest of this season and then the Stanley Cup next year.

Adversity. Winners overcome it. Losers question it.

I don't know if he meant intentionally tanking. I for one don't want them to throw games or anything but I sure as hell would rather they finish in the bottom end of the pool and get a good pick than middle of the pool and get crap. I know they won't tank on purpose, I just pray for suckage....for future non-suckage.
