Credit to Phil for this, he's at work and just tweeted the link. http://www.nickmendola.com/source-sabre ... impending/ Quote: (WECK 1230) — A source reached out to me and says the sale of the Buffalo Sabres is imminent. While the source could not name Terry Pegula as the buyer, they did inform me that members of Paychex, a company Tom Golisano owns, have received notice that their use of the owners box will cease by the next home games due to the impeding sale of the team.
A local television news network had reported that the deal would be announced after the Buffalo World Juniors was completed at the request of owner Tom Golisano. We’re reaching out to a number of parties to acquire more details. |

Ya, saw it already. Well, I am guessing by next week, or maybe the following week. Good, it's moving forward, I'll be relieved when they say the sale has been approved by the NHL board of governers. |

Holy wowzers! I know there is still leg work to be done and to be honest I wasn't expecting to hear anything until maybe the end of the month. But by the sounds of things if this happens as early as this report is hinting at, kinda makes you wonder how long discussions were taking place before Terry was rumored to be buying the team? And if by chance there were talks ongoing since we’ll say mid-late summer, do you suppose LQ and BTG didn’t want to spend a whole lot of money on the FA/UFA market knowing they were likely selling anyway? Hence, the internal cap? IDK, just a guess... Also, I peed a little when I first read the thread title. |

If they've been told no owner's box for Tues vs the Flyers, I'm thinking it might go down between now and Monday. |

While the sale my be complete and both sides sign off on the deal, Golisano may walk away and let the team go, but, for Pegula to take full ownership (to announce it) he needs it approved by the NHL owners and i believe it's one of those votes where you must do it in person. That is one reason why all these sites keep saying all-star weekend because they will vote him in then. I would guess the Monday after the ASG is when the conference will take place. |

Even if the sale hasn't been approved by the BoG yet, which we can safely say is true, BTG could announce that he and Pegula have reached an agreement pending league approval if they're that far along in the process. Assuming they are, Pegula has already been vetted by the NHL and cleared, otherwise they wouldn't even still be talking. If BTG is kicking people out of the owner's box, it has to be far along though. He wouldn't do that if the sale was a maybe. |
