Oh, and Niedermayer, Morrisonn, Grier, and Hecht were useless in this one.

I edited your comments.

I've just about had it with Sekera's mind farts as well.

As for your question, I don't know why, but I like the puck there instead of in their own net.

The problem is, behind the net they have limited options. They can't start a cycle from back there, because the d-men are either too busy complimenting each others cock sizes to stay spread out and cover the blueline or the forwards are too busy being pushed around. Nobody aside from Ennis even understands that if you keep trying for the puck after you've momentarily lost possession, you might just get possession back. The rest of the forwards give up on the puck immediately.

Morrisson gets a bye from me; he hasn't been awful. Niedermayer is a forward. Remember that. A FORWARD.

Question:
Why do we spend so much time BEHIND the opponents' net?

Answer:
Why are we behind the opponent's net in the first place? You do not score goals that way unless you are John LeClair playing for the Flyers in the 2000 Stanley Cup playoffs.

We need our guys in front or on the sides of the opponent's net to score. If they cannot do that, some guys do not belong in the NHL.

We still think Briere's on this team and our forwards steak towards the goal?

If you are behind the net with possession at least you get a chance if someone goes towards the net.

We have players in front of the net. You have limited time of possession with the puck. What is the problem with passing it when you have a direct shot to your teammate?

3 or 4 clear examples in today's game. I'm sick of hearing "clears it in front of the net but nobody's there". Or, it gets passed towards the front from behind, only to be picked off by a defender. It's garbage.

The behind the net strategy should draw enough attention from the defense that it opens up the weak-side defenseman for an open shot. Unfortunately, we don't believe in the cycle, and therefore, the behind the net thing doesn't work.

Good example of a team that plays very well behind the opposing team's net: Vancouver. Their cycle is amazing, especially with Henrik and Daniel.

We also don't have Henrik or Daniel. We have guys like Ennis and Gerbe who are still learning the game.

And if Goose or Vanek aren't on the ice, don't expect someone in front of the net.

In time, when Ennis and Gerbe get older and better, they can do a better behind the net presence. If you put it in front of the goalie, you have every chance to try and score a goal.
