RALEIGH, N.C. — Billionaire businessman Terry Pegula on Saturday is expected to take a major step toward buying the Buffalo Sabres when he meets with the NHL executive committee during All-Star Weekend. He will outline his plans to purchase the franchise for $175 million.

The presentation before the panel is considered one of the last hurdles he must clear before officially assuming ownership from Rochester billionaire Tom Golisano. Pegula is expected to be approved by the executive committee over the next several days before the purchase is voted upon by the full NHL board of governors in the next few weeks...

Kinda hard to let the T-Pegs Era begin when the BTG Era won't end for a few weeks.

I see your positive Buffalo News article and raise you a negative WIVB story.

The NHL has confirmed to News 4 Sports that Terry Pegula's purchase of the team is NOT on the agenda for the meeting.

Two things I find interesting.... spelling/grammar error in the first line.... shouldn't it be "even though"... not "even thought".... and no face to face meeting of the BOG is cool, didn't know that... email that shit out....

That detail was included in TBN article, but apparently isn't an issue.

So...23 of the 29 owners have to approve the sale. what exactly is that about? It wouldnt take that many owners with some sort of grudge against the team/city/ownership/management/whatever to totally cockblock this thing. Not that I think that's likely or realistic, just seems a bit strange to require that sort of majority, I wonder what they are protecting against.

Sabres expected to announce by Thursday or Friday the purchase agreement by billionaire Terry Pegula. Great news for Sabres fans

EDIT: Also, about an hour ago:

DarrenDreger Darren Dreger
Terry Pegula met with the NHL's Exec Board this morning. He's really close to buying Sabres. This mtng moves him a step closer.

Pretty much expected this. The NHL wasn't lying when they said the sale wasn't on the agenda at the full meeting, because it was on the agenda for the exec board first.

It's also telling that neither BTG or LQ are reported to have attended the full BoG meeting today. Seems like they've checked out already.
