Kaleta even went low to try and catch his shoulder since Prucha was ducking a bit.

Hanzal is 6'5", 220.
Kaleta is 5'11", 198

Learn your rules my good friend. :)

The instigator penalty comes with a 10 minute misconduct free of charge.

IE, you always get at least 2/5/10 if you're nailed with the instigator.

I have to say...if Kaleta played for any other team, I'd hate his guts. But since he plays for us, I just love him to pieces. Its so fun to watch him get the otherwise composed players all riled up and make fools out of themselves. Its almost like we're cheating, but we're not.

I've watched plenty of cheap shot players around the league, and I can't stand how they get away with most of their crap. On the other hand, I have zero problem with clean hits no matter how brutal they are. I've been on both ends of clean hits from playing football and hockey (and even baseball, lol). I just never got mad about it...never. It's part of why I liked to play those sports. If I made a great hit, it was nice to charge up my team. If I took a big hit it was a chance to get up fast and say, "Nice job but what else you got?".

So watching the amount of emotional turmoil that other teams erupt into over Kaleta is amusing and confusing to me. The Sabres didn't go crazy after Connolly got leveled by Schaefer because it was a clean hit. I just don't get why teams go nuts and throw a game because someone caught their guy clean. The best retribution is to go out and catch Kaleta clean. I have yet to see that happen. I see a pattern of pretty low sports IQ the last few years in every sport.

Clean hit = deal with it like a man by the rules
Dirty hit = drop the gloves or whatever necessary to stand up for a teammate

It really shouldn't be that hard to figure out.

Exactly, I'm glad they called the instigator on Hanzal...

No question. Kaleta is great at his job. I would just hate it if he played for, say, the Sens. He is really one of my favorites on the team.

I love Kaleta. If the other players hate him so much, why don't they hit him as hard as he hits them? He's easily one of my favorite players.

I think he did leave his skates a bit. But whether or not it was a "clean" hit, I think there's no doubt Kaleta is a headhunter. He looks to hurt people, and frankly, if I were a Coyote fan, I'd have wanted them to go after him.

As much as I love the physical side of hockey, I'm honestly not sure how I feel about Kaleta's game. I agree with NYfan that if he were on any other team, I'd hate his guts. He's kind of like Darcy Tucker without the skill.

You're one of those guys who thought everyone in gym class took it too seriously, too, aren't you?

Leaving his skates was purely the physics of the hit. Kaleta is tall, Prucha not so much.. when keleta hit Prucha the force had an upward component to it resulting in the appearance of Kaleta jumping. Even the Coyotes announcers said it was a clean hit.

If you think he looks to hurt people, you're seriously mistaken

that is all

I don't agree with this at all. I think he enjoys crushing people with clean checks, more so that he can talk crazy shit about it afterwards.

I don't think for one second that he has intent to injure anyone.

You don't hit someone without wanting to make them feel it, dur. But there's a difference in wanting to hurt someone and wanting to injure them. Every hitter wants their hit to cause pain. Only the douchebags want to cause injuries.

I think so too, and boy do I love it when he does. The camera man seems so ready to zoom in on him when he's going off. My favorite was last game against the Habs when he made that 'gesture' with his index finger and thumb. That was great

Someone I was talking to last night told me that in an interview once Kaleta said (or maybe someone else) that every time he is on the ice, the other team is yelling constantly, "keep your head up, watch out, etc."
