Something I haven't seen any chatter on, but I'd like to here some words.

Does this save Timmy's lack of points this season? No.
Does this mean we resign him tomorrow? No.
However, he did play well.

Key shot block on the last PP for Montreal in regulation. He skated hard on the back-check.
I know that points win games, but I don't believe they completely define a player. Moreover, I liked Timmy's play last night, and I've harped on him this entire season for un-inspired play.

Thoughts?

He played well last night. Too little, too late.

Connolly had an average game at best. Besides his lone assist, he spent 18 minutes skating around without controlling the puck. He needs to gain control of the puck, skate down into the opponent's territory, and shoot to score.

I would still be shopping him right now even with the team playing this well and get him the hell out of here. This team doesn't have enough to make a deep playoff run anyways. If the 06-07 couldn't get there what makes people think that this team can. Unload Connolly and the other garbage.

I will admit Connolly is palying better as of late to some extent. It enhances his value for the players we will get in return, but it is not enough for him to stay.

Congratulations. You described the goal of all hockey players.

Lately, he's been a little better. Still prone to a couple of airhead plays from time to time, but I see his drive up a little more. That's going to be important for this team down the stretch.

He's a pending UFA that won't be resigned. Shopping him should be a no-brainer.

I didn't think he had much value until the Mr. Carrie Underwood trade. Now, I think someone might just take a chance on him.

What Squanto said. Also, Fisher and Versteeg garnering first round draft picks has had a retarded impact on the trade market - players that shouldn't be worth a first rounder are garnering them due to the relative weakness of this year's first round draft class. Even Connolly may garner a first round pick from a team desperate for scoring.

i dont see the sabres moving assets during a run to the playoffs unless they get assets in return.

With Roy hurt, I think a lot of people around here are going to be very upset when they don't trade Connolly.

I'm sure you are right but in all honesty he needs to be moved. Let the youngster's in Portland fill in. I don't give a shit get rid of this bum.

I would try to swap him for a better UFA, like Arnott, or maybe a package deal that includes Greene and Arnott for Connolly and something.

I really dont see Connolly as movable, I think he lacks anything that Fisher, Kelly and Versteeg have, and thats toughness, and a willingness to grind it out in hard playoff games. Any team that would take Connolly would simply be dumping us their garbage in return. IE a Connolly for Rolston, or Connolly for Kovalev or something like that. Fisher is similar points per game, but a lot tougher, and a lot better away from the puck, Versteeg is signed for 2 more years. Kelly is Dominic Moore with a different name, why anyone gave up a 2nd rounder for him is beyond me.

I think Connolly has some value, but not much, and I'm willing to bet a lot that he doesn't bring back anything more than a mid to late 2nd round pick at best.

fisher, versteeg, and even kelly at this point are probably more respected around the league than connolly is.

edit: well, probably not kelly.

That is like the 2nd time I suggested it, and I don't see any deals that make more sense right now.

...and a crap game against Toronto. Couldn't win a draw and directly responsible for both goals against.

We don't pay Tim Connolly to back-check as his primary skill.
