Is there any new news on Roy's possible return to the lineup? First I heard he could return for the playoffs then he was done for the year then it was that he could return if we made it to the 2nd round. All that was quite a while back and since I don't live in Buffalo anymore, I need to rely on message boards for all the crazy speculation I used to hear when living there.

Original timetable I heard was May, and a couple weeks ago Sabres reported there has been no change in that timetable. Even if they get that far, I still don't see him coming back. Being out for almost 5 months with a leg problem, lack of conditioning, etc - getting thrown right into intense playoff hockey wouldn't be a good thing.

Darcy was quite adamant in trade deadline comments that Roy was not coming back this year no matter what.

It makes sense. 5+ months with no conditioning isn't feasible to come back from in a week or two. No sense rushing him back anyway. Let him heal up fully.

Stranger things have happened, sometimes things heal faster than anticipated, you just never know in the crazy world of hockey. Sometimes a guy is 90% ready to go just when a key guy gets hurt and they need a replacement. Injured player returns and blows everybody's minds with his play, makes all the headlines, wouldn't be the first time. Since Mario Lemieux's comeback game my mind is open to magical events.

lol if the Sabres make it to the 2nd round and are looking good, you can bet your ass they'll do all they can to get Roy back in the lineup.

remember when yzerman played the playoffs with basically one knee? the only time he wasnt on crutches was when he was playing. it was pretty amazing.

Roy wOnt be back in time for the Playoffs. Boyes was centering Vanek and Stafford during the Minny game so we don't need him as a center right now.

I wouldn't be surprised if Roy isn't 100% to start next season, even with no set backs. The longer and slower he takes his rehab the better. Frankly, I'd be okay with him not playing the first few months of next season. He blew up his quad tendon for Pete's sake all your quad muscles come together and form your quad tendon.

That's what keeps your patella bone in place, helps you straighten your leg...you know walk and shit. Mine is just stretched and if I run up a flight of stairs and I catch a stair at a weird angle, its like little knives poking into the top of my knee.

If it wasn't a complete tear its like taking a braided rope and slicing through one of more of the braids...with a 10+ lb. weight tied to the bottom of the rope (The weight of your lower leg.).

It is best that Roy stays out for the remainder of this season, even if he is progressing quickly. He can condition in the offseason. Last thing he needs to do is return quickly.
