Any word on MSG this year?

...apparently no HD coverage on away games.

Furthermore, DirecTV will not, that's NOT, be carrying Versus this season.

Crikey!

I think Bettman deserves a raise. He's doing a bang-up job.

For now, anyway...

I think they'll get it back eventually...probably before the season starts.

MSG is contractually obligated to provide a certain number of away games in HD starting this season.

They'll get their act together, because it's going to start costing them money.

We go through this every year so here it is ;)
If you plan on getting Centre Ice, don't bother calling your cable/satellite carrier until the first week of the season. They will have no clue what you're talking about, leave you pissed off and pulling your hair out. Even the InDemand site tells you "The season has ended, please check back next year."

During the first week, there has usually been a discount of $10-20 off the full year rate. Other than that, I think it's all been covered. No NHLN games either - except for one pre-season on 9/23.

Great system Bettman's got, huh?

I have been through the "Can I talk with your supervisor" conversation with the cable provider too many times. I'm trying to decide if it's worth paying for Center Ice this year when I won't get any high def Sabres play. If I didn't have school at night I'd just watch online but I have to DVR it....torn.

I've heard the same issues with the packages for MLB, NBA, MLS, etc.

It's the cable/satellite companies that are at fault with this stuff.

Not always.

Sometimes the channel provider tries to charge outrageous money or demand that the channel goes in certain tiers of programming.

The MSOs are con-artists, but the content providers share some of the blame.

This is a brilliant move by Bettman. No one wants to watch a sport that is easily accessible to them. I mean look at football. Way too many channels carry that sport. Bettman is a genius plan and simple. He is building up the cool kid factor for the NHL. When people only hear about hockey through whispers or random AO highlights on ESPN they'll be intrigued. Furthermore when they go to find the NHL on tv they won't be able to. That is if they have directTV. I applaud this man who clearly has ginormous balls or half a brain. Either way it's incredible he's able to put pants on in the morning.

No. MLB, NBA and NFL were available in my area months before their seasons actually began. Center Ice? Probably by game 2 or 3... nicely done, Gary.

Strike that, meant to say weeks...WTF is wrong with the editing feature? It freezes you out in seconds.

Ctrl C is a beautiful thing.

And hey! Haven't we all settled on the fact that we should slap the ham and tickle the kitty for health?
