He's got 1g and 6pts in his 11 (12?) games played this season, which is great for playing on the third line with Gerbe and Goose and receiving very limited power play time, but Mark Mancari's play without the puck on his stick has been markedly better than his previous call-ups. Most notable are how many breakout passes by the opposition he's intercepted and how quick he is to stick up for a teammate or deliver a giant hit after one of his teammates gets pasted.

Is he just showcasing his talents to get other teams to sniff around for a trade or has he finally gotten it through that flow of his? Discuss.

He wants out, so he's doing this to spite the Sabres and make himself look appealing to other teams.

The only thing I've noticed different about Mancari this time around is that he has been quick to jump in and engage physically in scrums, although I haven't noticed much physical play outside of that. Maybe I'm just missing it.

Could be the light bulb turning it on, but I'm not confident. Maybe he'll prove me wrong.

I think the light bulb is on, but I just think it's gonna take a bit longer to burn out this time.

His legs completely disappear from time too time, but as long as the coaches manage his ice time appropriately he can be an effective player. I like the heavy shot, the use of his big frame around the net, and surprisingly he is pretty responsible defensively. A checking line niche for the rest of this season and next is not a bad idea.

The way I look at it, he's increasing his value if we decide to trade him at the draft. Could fetch a 4th rounder or something. He's already stated he doesn't want to be here, but is an RFA at the end of the year. So maybe we can fetch some return for him later on, rather than lose him for nothing after next year.

I like his play so far. It helps that he's playing on a line with Gerbe. He said so himself, Mofos.

Still doesn't skate well enough to play up here imo. He obviously has some chem with Gerbe and maybe bringing up Ellis and re-uniting the 3 as the 4th line would help him out more. But when he plays with anyone else he seems to be lost.

Mancari may play well with Gerbe in the AHL, but that has to transist into the NHL. If that can happen before the season's end, I like to see what they can do.

Transist? lololol

I think the word you were looking for was translate. Word choice is important.

I've noticed Mancari on the backcheck.

It takes time for AHL call-ups to adjust, and a few stints for a game or two isn't enough. It took Gerbe some games last season and the first 40+ this season, and now he's proving some value. If Mancari keeps improving, even if he levels off soon, he could fill in adequately at 3rd line RW and bring something to the PP with his shot or as a big body in front of the crease. I'd still want more, but not much more for a 850k-1 ml contract.

Yeah, I can see some usefulness from Mancari. And it just gives more options for who to plug in where than if he were still sucking. Not bad for a prospect I had pretty much given up on. And if he has some value, but they can find someone better to stick in the lineup, then at least his value might net something in return, rather than just having him linger in the A.

It would be nice to see our late round draft pick break through to the sabres and be a factor for us IMO
