I kind of thought PSP would create this thread by now, but since he hasn't, I will. After a very lackluster first half of the season, Gerbe seems to be exploding with speed, will, and that scrappy doggedness which, son of a gun, is actually winning battles, finding open space, and putting the biscuit in the basket. The kid seems to have sparked this team like no 'veteran leadership' was able to, and if PSP is correct is one of the main reasons the sabres have turned it around since the new year. That performance in Montreal really blew me away, especially that empty netter. Pursue the puck, knock down Subban, and put that thing DEAD FUCKING CENTER net from half-ice. This kid is exuding confidence and swagger, and I cannot believe what a turnaround this year has been for him. So, what is the future of Gerbacity? Does he have a permanent place here? What kind of money will he be worth, what is his current contract, and when does he turn RFA? If this is the real Gerbe, and his real abilities...i'm damned excited to have him with the team. Can he keep it up? |

I'm liking him more and more. He's a hard worker. I'd like to see him, Ennis, and Roy on a line together just for shits and giggles. "The tiny terrors" My buddy hates him (Habs fan) ever since he got Gomez to punch him in the face earlier this season. The game earlier this week really pissed him off big time lol. |

Gerbacity has certainly been a factor in the Sabres turnaround. He certainly, most definitely hasn't done it alone. But without his contributions, the Sabres might not be where they are right now. This kid still has some growing to do, but I knew he had the tools to succeed at this level. He just needed to gain some confidence and learn the NHL game. Notice he isn't staying on the outside now. He's going straight to the goal every chance he gets. That kind of energy that uses out there can spark team mates to step their own games up, the same way it sparks fans to get excited when they see him doing it. I stand by my position that he'll be a 25 goal scored in this league some day. He may even crack 30. He had a rough start to his rookie season, but it seems as though he's found his game, and there's more to come from this scrappy winger. Gerbacity... |

i feel hes above the first half of the season, but below his current torrid pace. maybe the laws of averages kicked in. that said, he sure has caught fire and looked good in doing so. hes even taken the spotlight off ennis, who is penciled in by many sabres fans as the next star. and ennis, in case you havnt been watching, is playing swell hockey himself. i knew this day would come, where if gerbe got going, PSP would bukakki all the non-believers. i dreaded it, but it is well deserved. so where do i see gerbe? meh, not sure. but i dont think hes going to keep this pace forever. i dont know. we shall see. |

He may just be trying to add dollars to his new contract. |

He should have been credited with 3 points for that last goal against the Habs. Goal and 2 assists. Gerbophilia (Webster's): Unusual obsession with or interest in Nathan Gerbe. |

The turnaround can be attribued to a number of players - Myers getting his head on straight, Stafford, Ennis, Sekera (up and down still). Gerbe is starting to prove me wrong, I wanted to trade him. I still don't expect him to be a stand alone impact player though. Right now he's got two big bodies working the boards very well for him, and it's working great. He's always going to need that support, but if he can keep doing good things in open ice and play hard-nosed everywhere, he'll be a solid 3rd liner and maybe fill in a top two role sometimes. That's much better than his first 50 or so games showed. |

You say it's his linemates working the boards, but more often than not, it's Gerbe who's doing the board work. The kid will be a regular contributor. I predict at least 20-30 goal ceiling for him confidently. Ham |

I wouldn't say its impossible the kid has a hell of a shot he can dangle and has speed and for his size alot of grit and heart. 30 goals is alot but hell Chris Gratton got 30 goals too one year so anything is possible. |

Let's see him get to 20 goals (which is totally doable if not during this hot streak than at least during a season) before we pencil him in for 30. |
