I watched this on TSN with my dad and have been looking for the whole game ever since I can remember. Although we always butted heads when it came to our teams (He was a Nord's fan and I a Hawks fan at the time) we agreed and cheered on the Sabres all the time. Also, my brother was a Bruins fan back then and chose to go slut it up at a dance instead of watching his team which of course we shoved in his face when he got home that night

I had a vague memory of Buffalo beating the Canucks in the 1981 playoffs, and beating Montreal in the 1983 playoffs. Otherwise, my whole life as a Sabres fan was watching them lose to Boston (5 times), Quebec (2), and Montreal (2), or not making the playoffs at all (2). So after eleven years of misery, at 19 years old I still didn't believe they would actually win a playoff series until that very moment that Brad May faked out Bourque and Moog to finally seal the deal. So yeah, I remember it - and the shot of May kissing his stick a few shifts before the goal - like it was yesterday. |
