Fuck you Darcy. You were right.

Just thought it'd be nice to have a reflection thread as we're winding down to the end of the regular season.

Who would have thought that the guys closest to the team would know the most about how to run it. :p

I'll be honest, I was so frustrated early on this season that I was wanting Ruff to be fired. It was desperation, anything to see our team turn it around... Thank goodness I'm not in charge.

Way to go Darcy, Lindy, and team. :D

The Derek Roy Show being cut short ended up getting The Buffalo Sabres Show extended for a second season (see what I did there?). Whoulda thunk it?

Cheers to this team getting their shit together.

wait, are you saying there is a positive correlation between roy's injury and this team finding more success? As in, he was a detriment?

No, not at all. I'm saying that losing the star player who was absolutely lighting it up forced multiple guys to step up in his absence. Then Lindy Ruff retooled the system and Pegula bought the team, and they went on a tear.

So if we make it far enough to get Roy back, will we be a force to be reckoned with?

if, IF, roy returns.. its almost as if darcy added two players at the deadline. but... he got to buffalo late.

Roy will be back during round two, and then the final storm will combine to make the perfect storm that will rain blood upon all who stand in our way!

So sayeth the wise x-pensfan

so it shalt come to pass

If this team goes balls out every game in the playoffs we're going far. I haven't seen many teams that can handle Buffalo when they are trying their hardest and going in sync.

If Buffalo gets out of the first round and Roy returns in time for the 2nd round... wow. Some serious possibilities.

There's some huge "if"s with whether Roy can return and actually be effective, but if that happens it will only be a huge positive. I highly doubt that Hecht is coming back this season, if at all, so if Roy returns I'm guessing he might take a 3rd/4th line assignment to start and then bump up depending on his stamina. It would still cause a logjam depending on Grier, Kaleta, and if Mancari deserves to stay in the line-up. All good problems to have though.

I don't know about Mancari over the other guys, he hasn't been bad but I see too much thinking and not enough skating from him.

Yeah Mancari seems to have slowed down a little bit.

Unfortunately, he's just following his modus operandi. Was hoping it didn't happen this time.

If it didn't, it wouldn't be his m.o., would it?

Yea, two guys really stepped up, ok, I lied, but we have two 30 goal scorers on this team again.

Pommers play improved a lot, even Connolly's. And Boyes' presence really helps too. And Ennis being a beast.

They all stepped up, even Gerbe.

Actually a huge improvement is vanek and his 45 points in his last 43 games. He had 25 in the previous 36 games. With two long no point streaks.
