Decides to call up Zac Rinaldo, a 170 pound "goon" who can't fight worth a shit. Rinaldo only logs 1:56 of icetime in a game when it would have helped the Flyers immensely to have more personnel than the depleted Sabres after Pominville went off and is as much of a non-factor as you can be while still actually playing. |

I think Laviolette just wanted him to stir crap up even though he's a huge pussy who right off the bat elbowed Montador. |

Playing whack-a-mole with his goalies and having Syvret in the lineup only to play 2:59 on D has me really questioning this guy's coaching pedigree. |

He at least has a cup and ruff doesn't. Why are we questioning his coaching pedigree? |

He's been a complete and utter dumbfuck at every point imagineable this series. Playing goalie whack-a-mole so that no one in Orange trusts any goalie. Turning Sergei Bobrovski into a despondent mess. Calling up a goon that gives up ten pounds to gerbe, and 30+ to virtually every other sabres. Then playing him less than two minutes in a game when the sabres went down a man, making fresh legs very valuable. And playing syvret less than three minutes on defense. Losing his composure on a stall door after game four, and bitching left and right to the media while the sabres look like the calmer, more experienced team. Allowing his whining to trickle down to his captain and pollute his roster. Hell, you can make a case for not pulling boucher after the second goal last night. I'm not saying there isn't time for some miracle moment of genius, but laviolette has made the wrong decision virtually every chance he's had this series. |

The Flyers are looking immature and inexperienced. Honestly, I'm sure a lot of people were expecting the opposite. |

That doesn't mean every future decision he's made is wrapped in gold and sprinkled in unicorn dust. This wasn't a thread comparing Ruff to LavioBaldSpot. It was simply pointing out that he's made some questionable decisions in this series. |

He's not a dumb coach, his team was playing from behind for most of the game. I mean, why would you want to play the rookie when you're trying to score? I don't like him because he's the Cryers coach and he's a whinny bitch, but I think he did what he had to do, his team got outplayed by a better team and a better coach. They called up Retardo to fight Gerbe, because Gerbe OWNS THEIR PUNK ASSES. He's in their heads, they toss and turn from Gerbe nightmares. |

Funniest thing is, McCormick hasn't been getting challenged or getting into scrums. It's funny when the Flyers players are scared of Cody. |

Apparently the coaching decisions he has made hasn't done anything that bad. Seems to me he's made some good and right decisions this series or the flyers would be eliminated already. |

Hasn't done anything bad? His inability to figure out who his goaltender is from day to day is bad. His decision to put an AHL goon in the lineup to replace a 30 goal scorer, then not play him at all, is bad. One could easily argue that it cost them game 5. |

That's exactly the suggestion that I'm throwing out there. I don't know that it was enough to cost them the game, but it certainly didn't help. |

Or maybe what coat them game five was Boucher sucking it up. Blame the coach some more you're looking like a fool. A bad coach would have been fired a good coach has a team deadlocked at 3 games from his decisions. Your arguments on him are stupid. He has done something right or else we wouldn't be in game 7 or you'd be behind that bench instead and I obviously don't see you in the NHL coaching a team. |

So how is playing goalie roulette not a knock on Laviolette? How is not doing a job of managing Bobrovski's confidence not a knock on Laviolette? How is calling up a goon and then playing him 1:56 not a knock on Laviolette? How is keeping a defenseman in the lineup only to play him 2:59 not a knock on Laviolette? How is rushing back Chris Pronger only to have him be utterly worthless not a knock on Laviolette? My arguments are at the very least far from stupid and many of the Flyers fans on their boards are saying the exact same things about Laviolette. The end doesn't justify the means, you can crap your way to a pleasant outcome, and the fact that this series is knotted at three games is a testament to the Flyers overall talent. They're winning in spite of their head coach, not because of him. |
