http://www.cbssports.com/#!/nhl/story/1 ... -extension This is good news to me. If you don't like Lindy, consider this. Our owner, who wants only to win, wants Lindy around. |

I like lindy, I have been starting to have my doubts about his ability to instill the appropriate mindset in his team when it matters (like getting 'up' for the playoffs), but he is uber respected by other coaches, there must be some reason for that. I really hope this is the right decision, i'd at least like to see what Lindy and Darcy can put together now that the shackles are off. |

Can someone connect a specific number to "mulityear?" The link in the original post failed to specify the specifics. |

My guess is that it's a two-year agreement, option on a third, just like the last one he got. |

Well, maybe Mr. Pegula will be able to hire him a new assistant coach or two. Someone to manage the finer details like who's tired & should be pulled out... I've seen this on my kid's soccer team. The coach had one or two assistants whose main job was to sub out the kids & put the new ones in the right place. The head coach was more of an over-all teacher and just couldn't properly manage EVERYTHING alone at game speed. Maybe he'll hire Lalime as Miller's coach & psych consultant. |

Great when an orginaztion doesn't quit on a coach. Ruff, Trotz, Fisher (NFL), Sloan (NBA). Not so great when those guys don't win championships. Hopefully we can help Ruff join Cowher. |

Do they usually announce how much the coach's contract is worth? I don't think they do. |

It seems as though Lindy was extended without so much as an afterthought, even back in February when Pegula basically said Lindy could coach here as long as he wanted. There's no shame in losing to the Flyers, but the way they lost has to be cause for concern - blowing leads of 2 or more goals twice in the same series (including in the clinching game 6 on home ice) and then to come out so pathetically flat in game 7, to not even compete, I think falls a lot on coaching. - as Squanto said earlier, without Miller stealing games 1 and 4, along with horrendous play from Flyers' goalies, it probably would have been a sweep. Last year's playoffs weren't anything to write home about either, getting bounced by a much hungrier looking Bruins team despite a number 3 seed, and again losing 2 games after blowing 2 goal leads twice during that series. I don't have any inside scoop obviously, but the way it's been portrayed, Lindy's job performance the past few years, especially in the playoffs, doesn't seem to be under heavy scrutiny. I like and respect Lindy, and am actually happy to see him get another kick at the can, but it just seemed like his extension was a little too automatic for a new ownership group that's looking to change the culture around here. |

I'm guessing the length is 2-3 years. Pegula plan is 3 year plan. Not sure if this year was year 1 of that plan or not. So it would make sense that he would have Ruff coach through that plan. If it doesn't work out, then we go out and get somebody else. |
