I'll be dammed. I figured that they'd ride out the term on Portland before thinking about an affiliation change, let along BUYING the damn farm team. I stand way corrected.

I hope so, but I don't ever want them to change the bricks inside the arena. Those brick sections are amazing and so unique. However, let's not get ahead of ourselves here.

Probably. Likely losing Kevin Dineen and their parent club in one summer is a punch to the gut.

Does Portland have to have an NHL affiliate in order to play in the AHL?

"slightly darker black??"

i hope you get this reference.

anyways, im shocked that pegula isnt just buying a team, hes trying to build a hockey empire... a hockey factory if you will, if the sabres to re affiliate with the amerks. that would mean complete control... oversight over the kids.

if it happens.

Especially with the talent the Sabres have been giving them.

No, but they would probably not be able to do it.

Most of the time the NHL team is paying for a good chunk of of the players on the roster, and other costs (ie coaches). An unaffilliated AHL team could not afford that on their own.

Cool, now if the NHL doesn't come back to Winnipeg, I'll be able to see the baby Sabres again!!

Can they just swap with Florida? Provided that Florida would be willing to swap, of course...

It wouldn't be so much of a swap, but that would probably happen.

I'm thinking too that Florida's farm team being owned by Buffalo's owner would be some sort of conflict of interest, no? :P

i'm trying not to get too excited about this until its for sure... but i definitely was hoping terry would make this move eventually, especially with his wifes ties to rochester. i cant believe its already in the works, though. wow.

it'd be so exciting to actually be able to go support the amerks again.

I don't own a Pirates jersey, however, I really don't follow them either. If they snag the Amerks, I'll be getting me one of those for sure. Classic uniform.

Already been checking ebay for one but aside from a Don Cherry red RBK edge one, all I can find are the patches.

Make it so, T-Pegs!
