Post subject:  Getting antsy about Enroth

It seems like for the first time since Biron left the team, the Sabres finally found a solid backup for Ryan Miller in Jhonas Enroth. So color me concerned that we are here, at July 13th, and Jhonas remains unsigned. Have the Sabres simply dug themselves too deep with the exorbitant free-agent spending to afford Enroth? Or is it just a case that there is a disagreement on contract terms? Does Enroth want to be somewhere he can start?

Do we know anything of what is happening with Jhonas? And while we're on the subject of RFA's, what is the story on Gragnani/Sekera?

Thanks for any thoughts!

Lets Go Sabres!

Buffalo hasn't dug themselves a hole. They knew no matter what happend with UFAs that they had to sign at least a few of the RFAs. Filling those roster spots was going to cost minimal dollars no matter who filled them, so there's not much else Buffalo could have done with the UFAs they did sign in order to make any more cap room. I'm sure Regier was taking the RFAs into consideration when acquiring Leino, Regehr and Ehrhoff.

I wouldn't worry about Enroth or Gragnani. I believe both have minimal leverage and shouldn't be a problem to re-sign. Who knows what will happen with Sekera, but either way it won't be a huge roster issue. I suppose Enroth and Gragnani might be dealt with after Sekera, but those roster spots have to be filled, and the only way to fit them all in (no matter what their contracts end up looking like) will be to do something with Kotalik and/or Morrisonn.

According to a Swedish interview that Phil blogged about the other day, Enroth is basically quoted as saying both sides are on the same page, and he's confident a deal will get worked out.

His QO was $660k 2 way, and they also offered him $525 1 way. It seems to me, from my reading of the article, that Enroth wants a little more money, but really wants that 1 way deal so he'll have some more financial security.

I wouldn't be too worried. They'll get it done.

No, no, it would never happen, because Darcy doesn't have the balls.

New Jersey would never make that trade.

Furthermore, I'm pretty sure Darcy has recently proven that he does, in fact, have balls.

I'd be almost certain the Enroth for Parise was also a joke.

Although if we could pull it off...

Ain't that the truth....

And NO trading Enroth he's a future Vezina candidate IMHO. And Grags will be great on the backend if given the chance to play...

Is Mancari going to become a 40 goal scorer now?

I think Enroth has a better chance at winning a Vezina with his potential than Mancari will have at even scoring 20 goals

Ummmm, why do we worry about RFAs for? If they don't sign, they don't play in the NHL or anywhere.

Radulov defected since there wasn't a transfer agreement between the khl and NHL. There is this year and if Enroth doesn't sign by December he doesn't play and the Sabres still retain his rights. Enroth had no leverage as a RFA. He'll be signed. We have two full moaths still.

from my understanding, the transfer agreement only covers players under contract.

also, from my understanding as well, if another team put out an offer sheet before dec 1, but enroth doesnt sign it, or sign with the sabres, he becomes a UFA july 1.

anyone clarify if this rule still exists?
