Today, Lindy Ruff and the Sabres announced the hiring of Teppo Numminen as the third assistant coach. On game days, Teppo will sit in the press box and speak with the other assistants via. headsets. I'm pretty excited about this news. I'd like to get Grier in at some coaching/training position as well. Lets Go Buffalo! |

thought this may be coming. my girlfriend who works at the arena said she say him there yesterday and that got me thinking maybe they signed him as an assistant coach. glad to hear they did, great guy with a great mind for the game. |

Very happy to see Teppo back in the franchise. He's gonna be a very good mentor for some of our young d-men. |

Great addition to the coaching staff. I was wondering when I seen a video of Terry and Teppo in the stands what was going on at least we all know now. God I'm so looking forward to this season. Terry has been awesome since taking over. How can't you be pumped up for this season and many more to come. At least we all know that he is willing to do whatever it takes to win. |

I love, LOVE this news. I've missed Teppo sorely since he retired and was hoping he'd take a coaching gig with the Sabres. So happy. Unfortunately my season expectations are soaring every day, so I'm in for a typical Buffalo sports fan nosedive. Ham |

I love this move, Teppo was a very intelligent player in his NHL days. But what I really like about it is adding a little diversity to the coaching staff. One of the thing many european players mention about the transition to the NHL is how difficult it can be to adapt to the culture, especially on a team full of english speakers and native north americans. Having a european guy can (hopefully) help ease that transition for players in the future and help new acquisitions like Christian Ehrhoff and Ville Leino fit in. |

Totally off topic here but what is your girlfriends name? I believe you said she works at the store and I'm asking to see if maybe my lady (who also works at the store) might know her. Sorry to be a tad creepy. But anyway, on topic, this is great news. Teppo was always smart on the ice, so I think it's good to bring the intelligence and hockey sense to the coaching staff. Plus he's a great guy. |
