These next two years will determine whether or not Lindy will be with us for any part of the near future. We have given him a free pass because "he has done the best he can with what he had to work with." There are no more "If we resigned him, if we signed him, etc" We have the pieces and the depth in the minors that leaves Lindy with no one really to blame but himself. Don't get me wrong I hope he pulls through. I believe he has what it takes to make this thing turn out some winners for a long time. I feel as though we may take him for granted a lot of the time. There are a lot of organizations that would shell out serious cash to get someone like Lindy behind the bench. The pressure for this team to succeed falls almost entirely on his shoulders at this point.

That being said I think we will gel fine and Ruff will batter teams with a reckless abandon on the blueline and grind them down with 4 solid lines that no team can compete with day in and day out for the duration of the season, and hopefully the post season.

Cheers mates.

This sentence had been written about 4000 times since Lindy has been coach.

Lack of salary expense was Ruffs stay on job free card. The net has been pulled and his fall can only result in one thing.

You've obviously entitled to your opinion, but I'll be frank here.

People have been coming up with reasons why Ruff wasn't going to last since the day he was hired. They've all been proven wrong.

I love the man. Do not take this the wrong way at all. I hope when he dies they keep his coffin on the bench. There will be a bronze statue erected in his honor, maybe before his time as coach has come and gone(Joe Pa.)

The way I see it is that Lindy has given us a free pass, and more than one. We are lucky to have him, not the other way around.

Pretty much this.

He's a Jack Adams winner, Assistant Olympic coach for Canada, well regarded and highly respected around the league.
If he doesn't win the cup in the next few years it's because another coach has a better team, not vice-versa.

This is one of the things I don't get in sports, why you'd want to fire a good coach for an unknown quantity. Like Pegula said, you don't get anywhere by panicking.

Really game 0 and we are talking about ruff?? I thought oncethey loses back to back games we'd get a topic like this but already at game zero? I would have lost money if I bet his first two loses of the season ;)

Ruff is so good at getting criticized we couldn't wait for the team to even play a regular season game yet.

Notice how when players leave Buffalo, they aren't as good as they were here (except maybe Briere). He really knows how to make players look and play good.

I believe your one of them people also. Every Sabres fan is. The same goes with Darcy pertaining to the same subject...

Briere will never be what he was in Buffalo, but he still makes plays. Hasek is really the only other player in the Ruff/Regier era that has done well after leaving. Roloson has had a good career as well. I think the one annoying thing is seeing guys go to a different team and winning Stanley Cups...Paille, Campbell, Satan...
