Every game the guy who I feel was one of the softest players on the Sabres for years is surprisingly becoming pretty physical.. The one place where he has always has been physical was in front of the opposing net, but now he's running after guys all over the ruink to get these big hits.. Tonight, he runs a guy into the post when the player didn't have the puck.. Love what I'm seeing from him so far, and it's not just the goals..

He was inadvertently subjected to gamma rays.

Maybe this is the first time in a good while that he's not playing through any kind of injury. :P

I am thinking maybe someone said something to him in regards to not earning his keep of his fat contract and/or being the softest player on the team now that glassman is gone. Someone messed with the wrong amigo and we now have Vanek going Hulk on the NHL. He is a big, able body and if he can get some assists from turnovers with a nice forecheck he is going to have a monster year.

I doubt anyone got on him about being soft. I think it's just a natural progression as one of the senior players on the team and having a new leadership role. The physicality is good, but he's also taken a few bad penalties also...two crosschecks in Montreal besides the game-ender against Carolina.

It's so nice to think that Ferret's been gone so long that we hardly remember the donut comments. Some of the first times I posted on the official boards years ago were to defend Vanek against the soft comments that were the norm then. It took him years to get rid of that soft label.

Yes I remember ferret's ridiculous obsession, but when I said "anyone", I meant people that have any actual contact with Vanek that he might feel are important. Let's hope ferret was never one of them...lol.

Maybe due to the fact he didn't get the C?
