This is an issue I've had for a LONG time but never mentioned before. I don't ever recall a Sabre shrugging his shoulders and throwing up his arms when Miller has allowed a soft goal. But Miller will sure as shit let the entire arena know with his body language when a teammate has screened or inadvertantly deflected a puck past him. It's high time Pominville told Miller to cut that shit out and fish the puck out of his net like a friggin' man. Every damn body is going to see the replay and know what happened. Miller doesn't need to point out a teammate the way he did to Roy (and countless others).

he consistently throws people under the bus. not only with his facial reactions and body language, but he consistently blames people in interviews.

He's holding people accountable for their shitty play which is what should be done. I think you're partially wrong here. I have never seen Miller mention anybody specifically when he goes on a rant. He speaks about the team in general.

As for the throwing the arms in the air, it's probably a "what the fuck?" reaction. I do it sometimes too. But as a professional, I think he should cut that shit down. Get back up, slap the pads and get back in the game.

I don't really think he was blaming him or pointing it out after the goal went in. I think he was mad at the call and was really pissed off inside and when it went in he was kinda like "fuck!!". I'm sure he was just pissed and frustrated. It's better than a lot of goalies who turn around and slash the post with their sticks.

Goalies are a different breed. Anyway, I have never heard him throw many, if any, under the bus during news conferences. He does show his disgust on the ice but who know if its towards teammates, himself, the other team, or officials.

Someone does need to talk to him about how the fans are losing respect for him and his skills quickly. He needs to figure out what the issues are quickly. No doubt he's not the only one who needs to take a long hard look at themselves and their play.

no, he doesn;t mention specific names. and no, he doesn't get to hold people accountable on air. he gets to do it in the locker room and in practice when no one else is there. in interviews you don't get to point blame anywhere but yourself or the team as a whole. he separates himself from the team. "the defense has to be better." "the offense needs to capitalize on opportunities."

he may be right, but you shut your damn mouth when you're on tv. tell them that in privacy. he's a dick.

i've never ONCE heard him say "that's a goal i should have saved."

Really? Because he said it in his interview last night.

He includes himself when he's criticizing the team all the time. He'll always say "including myself", or "it starts with me" after a bad game. A lot of people say he never criticizes himself but he really does.

didn't watch last night. but for years he never blamed himself. if he did, it was the exception, not the rule.

Hmm...well I'll have to disagree. I've pretty much watched every Miller interview that's ever been posted, and he always will break down every goal he lets in and if it's a bad one, he'll say it.

I do think he has calmed down over the years though, when it comes to criticizing the team. He used to get pretty worked up and probably said things that maybe shouldn't have been said on TV. But within the last 3 years or so, he seems more level-headed in his interviews. He will always be vocal though, and I think some fans will always have an issue with that. Personally I don't mind him being so candid in interviews, it's more refreshing than the basic, cliched interviews you hear so many athletes dole out.

i don't know whether miller criticizing the rest of the team is his displacement of frustration, though. it seems that there is more to the team's issues than just the effort the team is putting forth. i'm not going to criticize ruff, because everything i've seen from ruff makes me like him. however, i don't the guy personally, and i certainly don't know how he coaches the team behind closed doors. perhaps ruff is one of the most despotic coaches that ruled a team with absolute authority, or perhaps there are bureaucratic elements of the coaching system that cause confusion for the players and coaches alike.

what does need to come out of games like this is the fact that this team looked nothing like the team that shut florida out so many days ago. the team even seemed to have lost its solvency after the first ten minutes of that tampa bay (i think?) game just a few days prior to this one. the pattern of this team's poor play is reflective of the lack of identity that the team, as a whole, has. we have seen in behind the scenes footage that these individuals all seem to get along and support one another, but the lack of character that is shown on ice (especially in confrontational situations) suggests otherwise.

the issue with this team's consistently inconsistent play seems to stem from their inability to find an identity, during certain periods, when they are on the ice. that's quite a task to overcome, and until an effective strategy is presented, i think any talk of player x criticizing player y is a secondary, surface reaction to what the problem really is. in other words, this is an effective way of venting... that's it.

Which is why I love when Chris Pronger gets interviewed about anything.

Ya but Miller throws many people under the bus and in return no one does it to him. He's been a mediocore goalie for most of the season. And those softies are the reason why we've been losing them. A softy here and there is ok but he's been doing this game after game and not just once in a game 2 maybe even 3 times.
