I'm sure this has been asked before and or discussed but what was with that gold helmet that Stafford was wearing durring a post game interview after the Calgary game? Does it go to the player of the game for the sabres or something?

According to Stafford's fellow linemate, Derek Roy, it is something the players picked up during their two-game season beginning series in Europe. Apparently some German teams give the game's top player a gold-painted hockey helmet.

'It's kinda cool," Roy said.

Stafford who scored the game's first goal - and his first in seven games - was voted the game's best player by his teammates, thus the gold helmet, made its First Niagara Center debut after the Flames contest. The helmet is only awarded after Sabres victories.
