Post subject:  Finallly I have proof...

...to back up what I've been trying to say...a little on here, a lot on Facebook.

I'm sick of everybody bashing Miller over the past couple weeks. Everyone think Enroth is "out-working"

Miller. No.

I've noticed in almost every game, Enroth never faces quality chances...and I've been very worried that if

he did, he'd get scored on. Against Ottawa, he saved 36 out of 37 shots. Those stats look amazing,

right? Well I counted two good chances in that game that could have went in. Both were shots by

Gonchar, and one of them went in. All of the other shots were weak and from the outside.

In the Ottawa game before that, I also noticed he wasn't facing quality chaces. Then, Condra gets a

breakaway and takes a shot and it goes in. I'm not bashing Enroth, I love the guy.

Now let's take a look at Miller's games. In The Jets games, he constantly was the victim of terrible plays

by the defense. He faced barrages of shots, breakaways, and 2-on-1's. Until tonight, I don't think Enroth

even faced ONE 2-on-1 and I can only remember 1 breakaway (on Condra), which he got scored on.

Now tonight, Miller looked pretty good early on. Then the defense just fucking collapsed. Two 2-on-1's

within 10 seconds. It's fucking pathetic. And remember, I still don't even remember Enroth facing one yet

all season.

So now Enroth is in and for the first time all season, we got to see Enroth in goal with our defense playing

how they play in front on Miller and look what happens. I think tonight in Boston, Jhonas faced 4, maybe

5 chances that could have been goals. In one period, 3 went in, and one hit the post. (By the way, this

isn't a Enroth bashing thread, it's a defense bashing thread.)

I just really hope this game will bring the end to all of the "sit Miller he sucks, Enroth is out-playing him and

is way better!" comments that I've been seeing. Miller>Enroth any day. Enroth has a long way to go. He's

going to be good, but I'd like to see him play in any of the games Miller was in this year. I guarantee his

GAA and save% would be identical to Miller's along with his record. We have a great duo in Buffalo this

year, and our defense really needs to step it up.

Hopefully this game was a blessing in disguise. Hopefully the pressure is off of Miller now. I'm glad Enroth

got lit up tonight too.

And once again, I'm not pointing fingers on the board, just tired of the "goalie controversy" and stupid comments on Facebook and what not. I'm just defending our goalie and pointing out our terrible defense. Myers and definitely Sekera have been absolutely terrible. We need Weber up here A.S.A.P. I can't believe he's up in the press box and guys like Sekera and Grags are on the ice. And Weber had a bad game so he got benched again...Sekera has sucked all year but is continually in the line-up. I love Myers as well, but I wouldn't mind seeing him in the press box either. Anything to light a fire on this defense. I would be in favor of Myers, Sekera, and Gragnani alternating so we have room for Weber.

I understand what you're saying but most people expect Miller to stand on his head to pull a win out of his ass. His "average" play has shown that our defense has gotten worse than better.

The only criticism I saw here was the one or two poor goals from the Philly game, but primarily the response he had afterward. Otherwise, the defense has been awful in front of him and that's without a doubt. Sure, I'd like to seem him still make a big save or two but it's totally the defense falling apart. I have to fault the coaching here at least a little. Ruff wants the d-men up ice all day every day. It puts a lot of pressure on them to produce offense and this is what you get - teams that just wait to pounce on mistakes in the neutral zone for gimmies the other way. The d-men are also slow in making decisions in their own end and sometimes make bad decisions regardless. Holy crap it's a friggin mess. How do 3-4 players look so damn bad all at once? Coaching and Lindy's system has to take some of the blame.

This thread was mostly designed to show how our defense has played so good in front of Enroth and allowed barely any good chances, but when Miller is in, they suck and hang him out to dry. I know Milller has been "average" ...even below average. He's been fighting the puck...but that may be mostly because he's not handling having a back-up knocking on the door for his job very well. There's a lot more pressure on him. This game may have taken pressure off of him though now that the defense has been exposed a lot more, and Enroth has also shown that he lets in a lot of goals too when the defense screws him over. I've said this before, but I say we put Miller in an Enroth jersey and watch him get a shutout. Put Enroth in a Miller jersey and he'll get lit up.

Miller should have had his paddle down on the ice on goal #1.

Just sayin'.

Remember, you can't put any blame on Lindy. He is the savior you know..... Pegula had a chance to change things and he decided to give Lindy another contract. I really do not think we'll see a Stanley Cup under Lindy's tutelage.

and hes absolutely right. miller was left out to dry and it showed. BUT A GOOD GOALIE STOPS THOSE! yeah, sometimes, they do. theres a HUGE difference between could have saved it, and should have saved it. none of those goals were should have saved.

His pads were down but since he was sliding from one side to the other opened the five hole just enough for peverly to slip it in.

Definitely. A lot of it is Lindy. He needs to get the defense in shape. I think making a statement and benching players when they suck is the only way our defense is going to get better. I don't think Ehrhoff has played worse than anyone on our defense (besides Regehr), but if he has a terriblle game, bench him...just to show that nobody is safe and that you better be on top of your game if you want to play in this line-up. Even if we had average defense, we'd probably be #1 in the league...

But when does Lindy do that. Only if you piss him off does he scratch them. If we're lucky Grags will be sitting for Monday but that will be a stretch.

Yeah, it's frusturating. In the past, we haven't really had anyone to turn to if someone wasn't playing well. Now we have Weber and he won't use him. Our problem is that our defense is soft and isn't good defensively. It seems the solution would be to call up your hard hitting defensive defenseman who played like a beast last year. It just doens't make sense.

Which is why you need to keep your paddle down on the ice when you open your 5 hole. lol
