This is what's wrong with the NHL today. When teams took care of their own issues in regards to cheap shots, the game was a safer place. Who gives a shit if you put someone out for 2 months if you only end up with a minor penalty and maybe a small fine. Teams need to "take care of their own" and it needs to start on Nov 23! First order of business...RUN THOMAS ON THE FIRST SHIFT!!!! Next is to send McCormick and/or Regher on the ice as soon as Lucic steps on and kick the living shit out of him---don't wait for him to drop the gloves, just skate right over to him and start swinging. Problem solved. |

So hitting a defensless skater is really bad now, but hitting a defensless goalie is fine if it's not a head shot. Well not fine, but only worth 2 mins...cool. I'll be very surprised if Boston starts Thomas on the 23rd, but either goalie should get bulldozed (no head shot) every time he leaves the crease and leave the PK to handle it. Lucic should get targeted for a legal check EVERY time he touches the puck. I would send the closest two or even three players to check him all night long. I don't blame Kaleta coming off suspension, I don't blame McCormick still healing with stitches in his face. I don't even blame Gaustad since it turns out he was just coming off the bench on a change and didn't see the hit, and then got blocked out from Lucic. In fact I don't truly expect any player to have to fight Lucic fair, but if gloves come off I would pull any manuever to put him down in a humiliating way and wipe the ice with his face. I know these guys don't know fancy hand-to-hand stuff, but this isn't about "fair". He humiliated the team in a very cheap way, so he deserves the same in return. The next game will now become a farce on the level of last season's Pens/Islanders games, and the NHL can blame itself when it happens. They could've at least given Lucic one game...but made it the Nov 23rd game, or even the next two rematches or so. Instead we'll have a debacle with actual suspension time coming or, worse yet, serious injury. I really feel bad for the officials that get assigned that game. |

Buffalo won't be able to do anything even if they want to. The League is going to warn both teams before the game that no funny business will be tolerated, and that harsh penalties will be meted out to anyone caught headhunting or attempting to injure another player. If Buffalo so much as sneezes at their goalie that player will get tossed, Lindy will be given his one warning, and that will be the end of it. Tell me that I don't have the situation pegged.

Plus the Sabres would look even worse than they do now. Well I hope Lindy learned his lesson by "allowing the league to handle it"
